Poorly Kitty

We got two new 16 weeks old kittens yesterday, brothers.

One of them seems a bit poorly when it comes to the toilet, got the squits basically and about half hour ago he was sick....just foamy and liquidy, no food or anything else.

We've had them a little over 24hours and its not changed, he's been that way since we got him, altho they never told us if he had any problems

His brother is fine, right as rain tho.

The poorly brother has still eaten, drank and ran around like something posessed, so i guess its nothing serious, i wonder if its cos they were in the rehoming center for just under 2 days and went in full of fleas and they had a bunch of treatments in such a short space of time, then the journey back to our house, could it of just been a rough few days on him? But not for his brother....or maybe he has a bad tummy that needs some help?

They have yet to have they're vaccinations too, both our older ones had all jabs

Re: Poorly Kitty

Id take him to a vet kittens loose there liquids badily with having the runs and sickness and go downhill very fast. They dehydrate. I would book it in to be checked over and also you dont want the other kitten to pick up anything also if its a infection or something.

Re: Poorly Kitty

There jabs can upset them a bit some can react to them . Id keep a close eye and make sure the kitten is drinking some thing. Check its gums as if there nice and pink its a good sigh if very pale then not so good. As before kittens go down hill very fast. I would as you say get it there earlier if no change.

Re: Poorly Kitty

You could remove starve them for 24 hours but make sure there is plenty of water available and then start them on a very very bland diet of say, cooked white fish (coley or similar) with or without boiled rice or cooked chicken and rice. Just a small amount (add a little water over it when putting it in their dishes to ensure they are getting some liquid). Then over the following 24 hours introduce what ever food you are planning on feeding them. I would recommend a premium food like Royal Canin Kitten or James Wellbeloved Kitten or Hills Kitten.

However still think it is a good idea to take them to the vet anyway for a check up.

Let us know how they get on.
