Kidney Failure

Last night we lost our beloved family cat Bertie who was 12 years old and lived with my mum and dad

He had been off his food since sunday but otherwise seemed fine. Mum noticed that his breath was very smelly and thought he may have a rotten tooth or gum problem so she took him to the vets yesterday evening. Within moments the vet diagnosed Kidney Failure and said Bertie must be put down as he will soon be in a lot of pain and discomfort. The breath was a sign as was his slightly weaker back legs.

My poor mum and my whole family are shocked and so sad to lose him so suddenly.

I had no idea kidney failure takes hold so quickly

So sorry to hear about your poor boy.RIP Bertie.

I didn't think they could go so quick either but I guess it depends on the cat and I think some cats it can just come out of the blue.

I am sure you have lots of lovely memories to make you smile. We lost a boy suddenly at the beginning of this year,I was devastated but we have his pic in the living room and I always give him a smile every morning! Let yourselves grieve and then also remember the happier times,it really does help!

Izzie

Re: Kidney Failure

I'm so sorry for your loss. We too have recently lost an old timer to the same problem.

If he's playing with any of our lot over the rainbow bridge, then he'll be having a ball, Chasing butterflies and lounging around in sunny spots. Perfect.

Re: Kidney Failure

Thanks so much

I found a lovely photo of him and popped it in a frame this morning. I will miss him terribly though.

My dad buried him under his favourite rock in the garden where he used to sunbathe in the summer, and he plans on engraving it with his name, he will always be remembered.

Sleep tight lovely Bertie x
