Re: Lost his collar yet again!

I've bought Bertie a new reflective collar for 99p from Wilkinsons, plus a lovely little "Glamour Puss" very lightweight reflective fish ID tag that you write your phone number on, £1.49. Quite a bargain, but I'll still be annoyed when he loses them.

Re: Lost his collar yet again!

It is annoying. Horris has lost 3 or four when hes gotten out. But he hasnt for a few months so he had the same pink one for awhile. All the others wear them to even though their indoor kinda helps when you can hear them.

Re: Lost his collar yet again!

Aber went through a stage of loosing collars so I bought a cheap one and just wrote my phone number etc on it in marker, he didn't loose that one though so had to buy him a new one when the marker wore off.

Keep an eye out for cheap ones and bulk buy, a short while ago tesco were selling theirs for 12p so I bought 6 and they lasted me a while. People are still selling the same ones on eBay for about £2 Inc postage so may be worth a look

Re: Lost his collar yet again!

Buy some knicker elastic and make collars from that instead. The main expense would be the tag, if it got lost - but you can get small round plastic ones like luggage tags -
ONE PLASTIC NAME TAG ANCOL DOG CAT LUGGAGE INC. UK P&P on eBay (end time 04-Nov-09 11:05:53 GMT)
(just as an example - I'd never pay that much for one tag, you can get them a lot cheaper than that)

Knicker elastic also comes in white, pink or black to tone nicely with your cat! lol

Re: Lost his collar yet again!

Great idea Merlins Mum !!

One of my cats is semi feral and an expert at getting out of his collar.

He has to wear a bell however to lessen the amount of 'presents' he brings home for us.

I buy cheap collars of ebay at the moment and keep lots of them in, they generally only last a week if that

The one he has on now seems to have done well however, he has 4 bells attached to it so you can hear him coming a mile off!

That's a fantastic idea, only problem is that Bertie is all black and I want him to show up if he goes on the road at night. Can you buy luminous knicker elastic for road safety? And who sells the stuff (do little old ladies actually repair their drawers when you can buy a pair for about 50p if you really shop around)?

That was quite a bargain, probably as cheap as knicker elastic and no sewing involved either
