Vets

I took my cat tiger to the vets as he was very ill and He went in Saturday I didn't even think he would make it to the vets , Vet told me that he looked like he has been piosioned , he couldn't stand up badly dehydrated , he had dissapeared for nearly two weeks and managed to get his self home , anyway the vet said she would put him on a drip and the next 24hrs where going to be crunch time , theres me thinking he would of been put to sleep but she said will try the drip , I said I didn't think he would last , 7hrs later phone call that he passed away any time between 3 and 6.30 that afternoon , and what she said to me on the phone was , well you did think he wouldn't of made it , NOW a vet bill of £70 and a dead cat , the dame bloody vet , she knew he didn't have a chance in hell but she made me pay alright do you think this is a bit steep for just a drip for not even 7hrs do you think I have been overly stung on this , would of been different if the effort was made , I think I am going to have a word with the head vet and she what she says about it in my mind my cat should of been pts he was in pain he was not with it and he couldn't even stand up ,

Re: Vets

Oh, no i'm so so sorry.:
( We had a cat that was poisoned several years ago, ( before we had any of our pedigrees) my next door neighbour found him dead in her yard behind all her big plant pots, he's been missing 3 days.
£70, so £10 an hour, they've charged you basically!! That comment, was'nt called for either. Also, she told you he died anywhere between 3pm & 6.30pm, did'nt she bloody know!!! If your cat was that sick, she should of been checking on it at least every half hour or so surely!! I think you are right to have words, cause I dam well would

I couldn't agree more!!

I am really sorry dear Tigger didn't make it. I think the vet should have be much more explicit about the treatment she could offer and the likely outcome of that and allowed you to make an informed choice at the time.

Re: Vets

Did you see the pound signs light up in your vet's eyes when she saw you carry your darling tigger in to the clinic? Sounds cynical but some of them play on your supposed hopes rather than listen to what you are actually saying .....

Re: Vets

I'm so sorry for your loss What a dreadful situation. You are within your rights to put in a formal complaint and whilst it won't bring back your darling Tiger, it may stop someone else going through this.

Re: Vets

Some vets just seem to be money makinng schemes with no regulation of how much things cost at all. I used to be with an awful vets and every time you went you saw a different vet and things were a different price

I am so sorry that things turned out this way for you. It seems as though vets don't give us sound advice anymore.

The bill seems steep to me too, but I really am not sure. Vet fees seem to have increased dramatically over the past few years. The total bill for Jasper was £99.15 we had a consultation fee at £58.01 as it was out of hours.
