People must've been feeding their cats something before the pet food companies started marketting kitten food and we don't have generations and generations of dead cats.
Cats are living longer lives BECAUSE we know the right way to feed them now!

And its not just a gimmick, read the contents labels!

Re: He's throwing up...

I think itd be down to him ebing in a new home.

he is handsome what breed? Im think Maine coon.

I feed my guys on purina wet food bot the best but right now thats what they get. They also get a holistic dry food that all naturel and no crap in it.

I feed them bits of raw and hope to haven all on a raw diet when i move out.
I fed tidbit kitten food only a couple of times. I found it rather expensive so I just put her on adult food and shes beeen fine.

Re: He's throwing up...

Yeah, you're right! Enzo is a Maine Coon My partner and I fell in love with the breed and had to have one!

I'm so confused about the food situation now I think kitten food is the best option, at least until he is 6 months old (which isn't too long now anyways!).

Not sure about brands though. Obviously, Purina Felix and Whiskas are the cheapest options... but are they any good?

Purina Felix kitten food is currently 2 for £5 in Pets at Home... which is a good price, but I don't really want to feed him something that is no good. £2.50 for a box of 12 pouches is a lot better than say Iams at £5.37 per 12 pouches. Although... if that's what he needs, that's what he needs

Re: He's throwing up...

Whiskas and Felix only have 4% meat in them, youwant something with 50%+ really.
Google Iams testing and it will put you off that for life.

Kitten food really is a gimmick, I have never fed my lot kitten food and they are healthy 11wk olds, they have mostly raw but some hi-life thrown in too as the new owners won't feed raw

xx

Re: He's throwing up...

Can I just add my 2p worth to this..

at his age, 4.5 months RC Babycat is not right for him, the breeder should have changed this around the 10 - 14 week stage at the latest, he should have been on the Kitten 36 which is the next one up.

James Wellbeloved is the same company as Royal Canin. So feeding JW is not going to cause many problems.

Re Kitten food, well its a debatable one.. The more expensive lines of food, yes they do make a difference, but when you get down to Whiskas etc., I dont approve of the kitten food at all, unless its Whiskas loaf for kitten, which I have used to wean orphan kittens.

Felix kitten, is just the regular line cut up smaller, in my opinion...

I personally would not be feeding sachets of food, when the dry food is going to cover his every need.

Kittens reacting to a new home is normal, most breeders or rescues warn new owners of this, telling them to expect a loose stool or a vomit. To the kitten, everything is new, new home, new surroundings, new people, all of which is strange and could, to them bring new dangers... all the things mum warned them against.

So unless it goes on for a couple of days, I wouldnt be too concerned, and looking at that photo, that kitten is a picture of health.

So, Im confusing you even more by saying stick with JW.. and water..

Changing foods causes tummy upsets..

Excellent! Thank you! I will have to make a trip to P@H!

Purely looks like a good brand... they do dry food too! Hmm - might swap everything over to Purely!

I have been reading into NaturesMenu which looks very good too... although, Purely is a bit easier on the pocket

Any bad things about this brand, Purely?
