Eye problems

I posted about this in the health section but no one replied. But there is still a problem.

About two weeks ago Decker seemed to have tears coming out of her eye. I kept wipeing them away. I think she may have injuried her eyes in a cat fight with one of my other cats. Last week she didnt seem to have a problem with it but today there is alot of sleep and a film over her eye. Ive wiped both away and Im gonna call the vets and see what they recommend tommarow

but was wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Re: Eye problems

she may have been scratched in her eye,vet will be able to check for that and perscribe antibiotics, infection can set in and potentially cause blindness when this happens.Hope she`s fine

Re: Eye problems

Poor Decker Probably had a little scratch and now it may be infected so I should think the vet will prescribe eye drops which should quickly clear it up. Actually though they contain the same ingredients as human eye drops and I always used to use "Golden Eye" drops from the chemist on my cat. He was a persian and prone to eye infections. You are doing right to just keep it clean with cooled boiled water in the meantime

Re: Eye problems

Poor Decker, sounds like an infection. One of my cat's used to run through the fields close to us & was forever getting seed's & such in his eye's.
It sometimes looks worse than it is, so I hope that's the case for your lil one.
good luck at the vet's.

Sometimes it looks worse than it is, so fingers crossed for Decker it's something that will get better soon.
Good luck at the vet's.

Re: Eye problems

Always best to get it checked by a Vet as it could be an infection but it also could be ulcerated, so if in doubt - check it out..

Let us know how you get on at the Vets..

Re: Eye problems

Thanks guys

Well she was off to the vets and they did some eye tests with drops. The vet said there werent any scratches on the eye so if there has been a cut its now gone

BUT Decker still is having trouble opening her eye so the vet gave me a cream to put on the eye to keep it moist so she can open it. I have to do this once every day and if there is no improvment afterwards then shell be back to the vets.

in total cost 58$ but its put my mind at rest

Tho the vet told me Decker is a little porker having gained three pounds since jan

so now she wieghs either 8 or 9 pounds so about the same as Horris

But I explained that she doesnt care for wet food all that much and rather eats dry. She doesnt look fat at all shes a pretty energitic cat . So now she is Miss.PORKER

Re: Eye problems

That's good news...

The cream should clear it up..

I wouldnt worry too much over the weight gain, not at this stage anyway, some cats do seem to bloat a bit with dry food..

So as long as she is fit, no worries..

I had one who bloated on dry food, and she would lean against the wall to clean her own bottom.. so funny to watch.. we then changed the brand and all was fine.

But I currently have a Siamese, who pulls the 'she forgot to feed me trick' on my hubby all the time... so she really is a porker...hahaha
