grrrrrrr (rant)

in need of a big rant but soooo wish i had my laptop at work to do this at the time.

heres the back storyim after a better food for the cats in the budget i have. so was at p@h and bought 3 cans of applaws and some p@h own brand.

i gave the cats a tin of applaws and they loved it so i said to oh "typical they eat the most expensive food ive bought."

now at work 2day i was tellin one of the girls who also has cats and i worked out for the amount i need it wud cost me £72 a month which i really do not have.

so we had a little joke about it and went on with our business. another girl came over and i was tellin her and she said to me "ooo i dnt care wat my cat eats" and i said well i like to think if i wudnt eat it they shudnt eat it. and i was tellin her how fussy sheldon is and never normally likes the food i buy.

she then said "jst put it down if they dnt eat it and starve its their own fault, they'll eventually eat it"

by this time i had to control myself. and i said nah if they dnt like it im not gonna make them eat it.

i said if your grandson didnt like wat you gave him for tea wud you make him eat it and if he didnt itd be his own fault he starved?

she obviously answered no and said its diff coz he's a human and its only a cat.

OHHH MYY GOSHHH

i cud have screamed. no its not jst a cat and yes it is the same as a human. they have a heart and a soul.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

she has a cat that sits in the kitchen day and nite in her bed and never gets any attention so i did get a dig in and say "my cats are apart of my family and not an ornament in the kitchen" 1-0 to me ha ha.

phew it feels good to get it out lol

I feel the same about Dorrie. She is part of the family and I can see how this would've made you feel.

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

I had the same argument with my aunt... she has 3 cats and until I got my boys she was the 'cat expert' in the family.... however they get whatever food is cheapest so she has more cash for fags and booze... Midnight, her gorgeous 8 year old tabby, was spayed this year after nearly dying from a bad pregnancy... had kittens 4-5 times a year with 2-3 litters surviving... even before I owned cats I knew she was awful.

Admittedly my boys get a wild variety of foods, but that's cos they are spoiled rotten and barely eat the same brad 3 meals in a row But the lowest quality they get is Felix and they only get Royal Canin dry, well, the odd bag of Applaws dry if it is on special. I am on benefits and about half goes on my babies! I was earning when I got them, I feel so bad that their food has lowered slightly in quality since losing my job, but they still get a lot of raw mixed in their diet to keep the quality up.

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

i would be annoyed too!

reminds me of a conversation i had with 1 of my friends about cat food when we first got candy, i was saying how awful it was that you couldn't get decent kitten food in supermarkets only 4% meat stuff, she agreed with me saying it was all crap, i mentioned a few brands we were thinking of getting, she'd never heard of any of them so i asked her what she fed her 5 month kitten, her reply was asda cat biscuits

candy is my baby
could never see her as 'just a cat'

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

It's sad how big the gap there is between certain people and their pets

Mine eat the best quality I can afford and never go without. Sure it would be easier for me to stick them on morrisons own food but that's not good for them and I'm sure it can't taste all the nice either.

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

Mine have been eating Crapskers oops sorry I ment whiskers.. for the past two days and I can tell they don't like it. Its just been a convience as thats what mamma cat came with and I sorta wanted to use it up but I feel very guilty about giving them it. Even for the two days I've done it because I KNOW its crap and I KNOW they dont really like it.

Tomorow I'm bringing home a nice big bag of James Wellbeloved and raw treats!!

I was talking to my mum this evening about my plan and she was saying, but they are JUST cats.

They are just cats JUST CATS how many times do I hear this HOW MANY!? It makes me sick how many people refer to animals as just animals. They are so much more than that. So much more..

I am sure if people could see the harm it does to animals, the uncontrolled chemicals put into cat food, the maize filler used to bulk it up, the poor quality meat used, and all the crappy entrails they stick in it too. I'm sure people would be repulsed enough to realise how truly disgusting some pet foods are. I think thats the thing tho isn't it? Lack of education..

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

My cats can also be fussy, so we are forever trying new foods, they won't even eat fresh fish or tuna!

But on the issue of would you let your grandson starve, if i didn't eat the food that was put in front of me, i wouldn't get anything else till the next meal. LOL. Maybe i was too fussy. haha.

Re: grrrrrrr (rant)

I have recently spent a small fortune on trying to find a good quality food that Kitty will eat, especially as I'm trying to get her to gain some of the weight she lost before her thyroid operation. She does like Whiskas which I really don't like feeding her as it's just manky stuff. Before she was ill, I would only let her have dry food but in an effort to get her to eat something, I bought her some wet pouches which she's now got used to and expects it everytime! lol I've finally found a HiLife product that she actually likes which is a huge relief. I've also found that she likes Hills dry Kitten food so I bought two bags at £15 each. I've spent another small fortune on different pouches and tins to tempt her. This of course whilst paying for treatment for her overactive thyroid and subsequent operation.

If your colleague knew the amount of cash I've spent trying to get her to eat and gain weight and healthy, she'd probably faint. I only work part time as well. But Kitty is my little girl and I'd do anything for her.
