Is it normal for cats to sleep all night? I thought they were up and about all night.

On Tuesday Zelda curled up on an old jumper of mine next to my bed and slept there on and off all night, so the next night I made a cat bed shaped old jumper pile and she stayed almost all night.

Thursday evening I took the jumpers she has been sleeping on and sewed them into a bed for her along with an old cusion and some trousers that don't fit (see they were worth keeping!) She sat next to me the whole time I was making it and when I finished I put it down in the same spot where she'd been sleeping and she instantly curled up on it. The last two nights she's followed me up to bed, gone straight to sleep and not got up until about 6am I woke up at 3am this morning and she was sleeping on her back and her foot was twitching like she was having a good long dream, probably about bug catching.

Aber also sleeps all night on OH's computer chair or the end of our bed. He used to wake me up at 5am but now he dosn't do it until the alarm goes off, then he's over to pat my face and tell me he's hungry

What about everyone else? Do your kitties keep you awake or let you sleep?

our bracken tends to recognise when its 'bed time' usually around ten or eleven oclock at night hell go on his bed and go to sleep, usually stays there untill about six, vary rarely does he disturb us during the night now

my marmalade has 2 old pillows at the side of my bed which is where he sleeps most nights, purring away like a lil tractor, midnight sleeps on the bed for part of the night then goes to the hood of the petpram until 5-6am when he decides i should be up and about and gets in my face for some fuss

menace sleeps curled up beside me and the 2 new kittens sleep on the pc chair or sofa

then the dog, abyss (alsation/collie cross) sleeps on the bed too and hogs the duvet lol

hehe if I had that many around me i'd be scared of sleeping on them!

I'd have them both on the bed but Aber won't let Zel up there, it's his bed and he's made that quite clear Oscar used to come to bed with me, he would let me cuddle him all curled up until I fell asleep and would then crawl out and sleep at the end of the bed.

I Dont think ive ever been woken up by my 3, Only when there bell from there collar tingles away.
Molly Sleeps at the top of the stairs, (She thinks she's the boss when shes clearly not)
Toby Sleeps in the middle of the Downstairs Leather sofa, (He usually sleeps there during day, if hes out and about all night).
And Mia the little'un Sleeps on the other Leather sofa but curled up in the corner with all the pillows .

lol they soon let you know if you get close to sleeping on them

only have a couple of probs with them all sleeping in beside me, i usualy end up with a cat sitting on my chest staring at me in the morning lol or a nawty 4-5month old kitten trying to play with my book as i'm reading and if i ignore him doing that he sits between the book and me so i gotta put the book down to fuss him

Lucky is a good girl who sleeps for part of the night between us, and the rest of the night on her bed - which is actually my spare bed. At the moment she is sleeping on my OH's side of the bed as he's away for work She usually has to be gotten up for breakfast in the morning.

Patch, is a different story. He goes to sleep on/ next to my feet (guess who gets the least room on the bed) & god knows what time he wakes up - all i know is he bounces up onto the bed & usually lands on my stomach, at which point i have to pretend to be asleep. Then i have at least a couple of "checks" in the night - with full-on loud purring, to see if i'm awake for cuddles (he rarely does this to my OH), ending up with quiet meowing at 6.30 - which is ignored.

HOWEVER, for some reason, and i think it's cos my OH is away, the past few mornings, both have been up waaay before the alarm & this morning i've had a cat playfight under the bed. I really could do with a proper lie in, waking up late so i can at least feel refreshed.

& before anyone suggests, i can't close the bedroom door as i live close to an A road so it's too noisy to sleep with the windows open (i'm at the front) so we have to have the door open to get any air through.

sorry for the minor rant - can you tell i'm tired.

Filou (cat in pic) sleeps like a baby at the bottom of my bed when he chooses to sleep with me! otherwise he sleeps at the top of his scratch post. He will though wake me up around 5 - 6am by meowing at the door to be fed / let outside.

Magic will play all night long in the bedroom so he is banned but Tia (my youngest at 3 months) will snuggle under my chin and sleep quite happily until the alarm goes off! & if I have to get up in the night to use the bathroom she follows me in there meowwing to come back to bed! awww shes the only one that doesnt give me any hassle! lol

wow i am so jealous!!!
my gizmo wakes anytime between 445 and 530. and then proceeds to miaow very loudly and wakes everyone up!!

anyone have a secret to getting them to sleep in? i do play with her just before bed to wear her out but it doesnt work that well obviously

My three sleep in my room at night with the door shut because they fight with my moms cat at night. At first they will just snooze on the bed, if not then I have to play chase me throughout the whole house trying to catch them. Then they playfight throughout the whole night on me , UNDER ME!!, with there toys, etc. Then about 6am Decker will start nipping my nose and bitting me to get me up
