why does cookie do this??

Cookie is now 8 weeks old and has been with us 2 weeks (she came home earlier than we would have liked as owner going away on holiday).

I have noticed she does this funny thing when she gets sleepy whilst on me. She purrs instens;y and tries to nuzzle her head onto me. She licks away. I said to my hubby it almost like she is looking for milk off her mummy cat. Is this something common for a kitten? We didnt want to bring her home until she was 8 weeks old as many people have reommended. My heart goes out to her when she does this. I sit with her and offer a drink of kitten milk when she does this now, which helps. (and more cuddles)

Re: why does cookie do this??

Ahhh, bless her. It's a comfort thing yes. Be careful keep offering her milk, as she will get in the habit of it, unless you don't mind sitting with the milk, lol. 6 weeks is so, so young. I take it she's not a Pedigree then ? I'm sure she will be just fine, you sound like you love her to bits already. Any pics ?

Re: why does cookie do this??

She is just comforting herself. My 1.5yr old 12lb BUTCH black moggie still sucks his toe like it's a teat, purrs and paddles with his feet. Wouldn't worry, she is obviously happy and content when on your lap she may grow out of it and it become less and less, or, like my boy, maybe not
