Monday Cattery Day

On Monday i have to put my 2 cats into the cattery for a week
They have been in catteries before and they didnt really like it.
Hugo always lost weight, didnt eat for 2-3 days and it just breaks my heart to leave them there.
But I have no choice
We visited the cattery today and they looked like really friendly people who like pets themselves so i guess my cats will be good looked after.
Maybe its just harder for me than for my 2 cats to be apart from each other
Im planning what i could pack for my cats so they have something familiar with them. Definitly loads of toys and maybe their bed??? (they hardly ever sleep in it but i cant give them their big scratch tree with them )

I hope they will not hate me as usually it was someone else dropping them off at the cattery and we were the rescuers by picking them up lol

Re: Monday Cattery Day

A small scratch post is a good idea as there was nothing for them to scratch on. And calie is a scratch maniac

Re: Monday Cattery Day

FAB Cats website have a list of very good catteries. fabcats : feline advisory bureau - the website dedicated to feline wellbeingI used to put mine in a brilliant one not far from us. The lady really loved the cats and it was more of a hobby to her than a job. She gave it up after 15 years and now does house calls/sitting instead. She will also come in if you have an emergency which I had a couple of weeks ago. She is a lovely lady I'm sure your 2 will be just fine :-)

Ali the cattery ladie said to take as much stuff to make them feel at home as possible. last time i took them i didn't take as much as it was only 2 days, but ali said they settled in really well, its good if you can find one cattery you feel comfortable with and the cats get used to

Thats definitly true...but we are lately moving so much as we havent found the right place to settle down yet. So every time its a new cattery we have to choose. Since we have the cats we moved already 3 times
I will try to give them as many things as possible with them.
They even provide the food for the cats there but i will still give them mine as these 2 are fussy eaters!

Re: Monday Cattery Day

I take the easier option now and get a catsitter to live in - it is a giant leap of faith to have a stranger in your house but at least I know the cats are much happier and having six cats it makes little difference costwise. If you go through an agency the petsitters carry their own insurance and you can interview them prior to booking them; if you are not happy with them you can ask for someone else. Most are retired folk.

Most will/should have had a police background check done too, so you know you aren't letting some maniac into your house!
