maine coon

hi what are maine coon cats like and do they grow really big.anybody have one.thanks hugs michelle

Yes, maine coons are one of the biggest domestic cat breeds. But nothing to worry about, just a bit bigger than the norm.

for example:

Average moggie - 3.5-6 kg
Maine Coon - 4.5-10kg

They are beautifully natured cats!

Yes, they are very big. I have one & wouldn't take the idea of getting one lightly as they can cause damage.

Not anymore 'damage' than any other cat!
As ever if the owner takes the time and care these things do not happen!

Wrong.

They do. I have had cuts on my arms/body to prove it along with torn wallpaper, carpet & dining chairs during adolescence. Nothing to do with "taking time or care" as Maine Coons are bigger & stronger & heavier causing more damage.

Good idea. Even the most well behaved kitten could attempt to climb your curtains & bring them down with them. Make sure they are what you want & that you would love them regardless as they are adorable cats. Once they mature they are so laid back & cuddley.

i have had normal cats before but never this breed.i will give it some thought before jumping in.i could never get rid of a pet once i had bought it i get too attached.hugs michelle
