Where do you keep the cat litter?

As title really. Where do you keep your cat litter tray?

Ours is in the kitchen at the mo but was thinking of maybe moving it somewhere else for hygiene reasons??

Lupin&co is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

In the bathroom, but it's a covered litter tray & so doesn't smell, and the bathroom is quite roomy. It was in the kitchen, but I couldn't cope with the occasional bad smells around the food.

Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

HI yes keep mine the kitchen also would like to move it but don't have anywhere else except hallway, no utility etc. Kitchen is best place becasue of tiled floor and it is at the other end near the huge cat post/activity centre where they sit at night and watch me make tea etc. The pong can be nasty sometimes though when in the kitchen but just gonna have to live with it!!! lol

I am always cleaning it and freshening it and I'm sure there are loads of others that have thiers in the kitchen, I have been strict about them jumping on the worktops though but not sure about when I'm at work all day!!! I have seen evidence that they've been up there but first thing I do when I get in is anti-bac all the services.
Let me know if you coem up with any ideas.
Allison

Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

Just saw the other posts when I posted mine, never thought of the bathroom, we do ahve quite a large one so may try it there and pray that they remember to go upstairs although they spend a lot of their time running up and down anyway!!

I use the Hagen covered litter tray but haven't actaully left the door on yet as they are only babies and when I tried the door they didn't seem to like it and I was so scared of them not using it and using somewhere else instead!!!

Any thoughts on this point anyone????

Many THanks
Allison

PS I have seen a new cat loo that looks like a tiolet etc!!

Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

Tilda and the kids have their own bathroom downstairs. I cant wait to toilet train Tilda and Swizzle

I have changed Sausage's to Swizzle. It was Patrick Swayze's nickname, we couldnt call her swayze because bf said he would have to call her sway-zed because we are not American hehe! I wanted to call her Baby but again bf said no because and just point blank refused to call her Baby haha. So Swizzle it is)

Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

Mine's in my bedroom at the moment because that's where the kittens are.

I always preferred keeping it in the bathroom - next to the loo; it was easy to remove any solids and flush them away every time I went in. I may do this again, with a baby gat across the door to stop the dog looking for snacks....

Effie's Mummy will become famous soon enough
Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

We have a spare room which has been designated as Effie's room, so that's where her litter tray is. We'll probably move it when she is older and has more free reign of the house more of the time, but not sure where to yet.

Re: Where do you keep the cat litter?

I have 4 trays in a walk-in understairs cupboard in my kitchen. I just use plain and simple open trays, i don't like covered trays, smells build up inside (no matter how clean you keep them) and it is 10 times worse for the cat as their sense of smell is so much better than ours.

There is no smell (well, briefly, if just been used of course lOL!) especially with Cats Best litter.

I also have 1 tray upstairs (for Lacie's en suite facilities LOL!) under a desk in my workroom, and 4 trays out in the garage (which they can access via catflap anytime)
