Homemade cat toys??
Hi all
My 2 fur babies are 4 months and seem a bit bored of there toys at the mo. Just wondered what sorts of things your cats like to play with? and if you have any homemade suggestions?? Thanks Kerry

Re: Homemade cat toys??
My cat spends the majority of his happy life outdoors so toys would be of little interest to him.
However I did grow catnip in the garden which became his local 'Korova Milk Bar' !!! ![]() ![]() Last edited by WaveRider; 17-09-2009 at 11:01 AM.. |

Re: Homemade cat toys??
I made Aber a few toys out of some fur fabric and felt. I put OHs old (but clean!) socks and catnip in the middle.
This is the mouse I made with pompom ears (well stitched on!) DSC00493.jpg DSC00495.jpg and the A DSC00492.jpg Aber loves them ![]() DSC00483.jpg Zelda has of course come along and ripped the mouse to shreds but I can soon make another ![]()

Re: Homemade cat toys??
Rubbish, quite literally! Empty loo rolls, screwed up balls of paper, old cardboard boxes ... he's pretty easy to please. One of his favourite things is having a ball of paper thrown up & down the stairs for him to chase after ... it tires him out nicely, too!

Re: Homemade cat toys??
If you are any good at knitting, then little knitted toys stuffed with old tights are a firm favourite in my house. You can pick them up at shows for 50p, but if you look for Jean Greenhowe (I think) patterns, she has mini booklets stuffed with different things. A bright yellow terradactyl (sp?) and a chick breaking out of an egg were very much loved.

Re: Homemade cat toys??
Twist a strong paper flour bag and tie it with ordinary string to a sratcher or bannister so that it can swing.
Kitchen foil balls go down well. Cardboard boxes of different sizes with and without holes cut in. Buy dryed catnip - a little goes a long way and the packet lasts for ages - can be bought in P@H. Check out if your local park has a duck pond. Often goose/swan/duck feathers can be picked up and you can tie these to string and a bamboo cane to make an improvised fishing rod toy. (or if there is a city farm) |

Re: Homemade cat toys??
my clothes horse full of clothes seems to be the best thing in the world... NOT TO ME!!!! when i wake up in the morning and my clothes still aint dry cos they have been scrunched up on the floor lol... thick pens... stuffed teddies... my toes... my throw that has tassles on it... and the best entertainment that seems to tire my kitties out is watching my huge 4ft ffish tank or the hamster... They dont attack either of them or try and get in... but if i hold them gentle supporting there bums they will sit there watchin the hamster go round and round or the fish go back and forth... not make a noise or move just gentle fall asleep purring lol... or if im not there to hold them they will sit on the side closest to them and fall asleep lol bless them

Re: Homemade cat toys??
Cardboard boxes and screwed up bits of tin foil work a treat! It seems to be these simple things that Tilly loves the most, despite all the money we have spent on her fancy un-played with toys!
