Re: Purr-fect fencing

My friend uses this it has worked so far!i am a bit unsure though i prefer to know mine are 200% secure with a solid roof over their heads.and opt for full enclosures.

Re: Purr-fect fencing

I am interested in any replies to this as I too am thinking of cat-proofing my garden with it. The testimonials on the website are quite informative.

There is also secur_a_cat fencing - see here:

Cat-Proof Fencing

Though a minus for me is that secur_a_cat do not have a website.

Re: Purr-fect fencing

I cant help but worry that theres a slight chance they might succed in getting over,i have seen kittens negotiate a over hang at my house, but it was solid mesh, where purfect fencing is flexible, and this is more of a deterrent. It wouldnt be practical for us with our dogs anyway, dylan would eat it probably!

Actually, The Purrr....fect Fencing is an American product that was originally formulated to keep deer and rodents out of gardens (or back lots ). To do this the bottom half is pvc covered heavy duty wire mesh, so I seriously doubt a dog could chew through it.

I quote from the on-line brouchure:

"Th e 7' tall fence is a two part system. Th e upper
section is constructed from 7.5 feet of UV stable
polypropylene mesh grid that arches up and attaches
to the angled extenders. Th e lower portion (2 feet)
is a rodent-proof, powder coated steel mesh that
matches the upper section. Both these materials get
attached to the vertical support pipes. All materials
are black so that the enclosure disappears into the
background."

But the wire mesh used around the bottom actually doesnt go up that high and i still feel that a big dog could get to the plastic mesh which would be easy to bite through. For peace of mind i would definantly choose secure runs with a roof, but thats just my opinion.

Re: Purr-fect fencing

My oh built ours and they are secure with weatherproof roofs-dunno what cats you have but wouldn't underestimate their ability and determination to "escape" or other cats/dogs ability to get inIf your willing to spend and have a run/runs built-you may as well get secure ones for your peace of mind and their safetyWe also have some rubbish weather(in case you'd not noticed) and without a roof it's not gonna be great for your cat/s on a windy/rainy day

We haven't used this branded product, but 11 years ago, the breeder who we bought our two siamese from told us how to do this ourselves with aluminium brackets and chicken wire. So far it's kept the siamese in the garden, but the maine coons could always manage to negotiate it.
