Fao of multi cat owners

My dad yesterday tried to convince me in a joking way in letting me lend him one of my cats. Apparently he has a mouse infestion only its outside his house. He says there's tons and he wants them gone before winter comes and they sneak in the cottage. I told him to go get his own cat if he wants a mouser but he wants my cats.

I told him a big fat no

He then told me i dont have the time to give all three cats four including my moms cat the attention they need. At first it made me feel bad, I mean i never expect to attain three cats in less then a years time. But i must me doing something right. I mean i cant leave one roon to go to another without being followed by all three of them, i wake up to all three of them curled on my bed, I mean right now there all snoozed up on the bed behind me at the moment.

I give them one on one attention to but i find it depends on the cat. Decker doesnt like to cuddle, she likes to get a good head and back scratch and i will get the odd treat of her actual cuddling on my lap. Horris like to cuddle and be scratched as well and so does tidbit.

I dont know what my limit on how many cats i would have till i felt i wasnt able to give them all attention.

sorry for my rambleing but i was just wondering what you felt your limit was?

and do u think it depnds on the cat own personality?

Hey hun i have 3 cats and they all seem 100% happy , cats generally dont like to be fussed over (iv had cats all my life, parents had a middle aged cat when i was born and she lived to 21 and had another 8 since then) Are they indoor or outdoor cats?

Re: Fao of multi cat owners

I live in goverment houseing at the moment and the rules for pets are if u allow them outside they must be attend, same goes for dogs. Not many people here follow the rule but i dont want to get my mom (whos the renter) in trouble. Ive also seen and heard of cats getting hit by cars or attacked by people so ive made it a perment rule that they are not allowed out. I plan tho when i have my own house to build a run for them outside so they can enjoy the outdoors but also be safe.

I try not to spaniel mad. I was annoyed to begin with as my dad had gone out on the deck and then left for a coffee. I then came down for a bite to eat and realized he left the back deck door open and all of them were out there. When ever the cats have been out there they have a tendency to jump from our deck to next deck and those people have two small jrt and im always worried that if they have there screen door just open that their dogs will get thro and hurt my cats i cant wait to have my own place.

Re: Fao of multi cat owners

I have 4 cats, and all get their own 1 on 1 attention and also group games and fun.

I would say my limit would be one more cat. Not for any other reason but trying to find the time for extra time 1 on 1 with another puss.

You know your cats better than anyone else, so don't let anybody else tell you different. You also know if your lifestyle better than anyone. If your cats are happy and healthy then i wouldn't worry about what other people think!

Re: Fao of multi cat owners

I have 11 cats currently and they all get plenty of attention and seem happy and contented. I work from home a lot of the time and if I go out to customers I'm never away for more than half the day. When I get back home the first thing I do is say a collective hello and then go round all their individual fave sleeping places, make sure they are all ok. Even if I've been working upstairs I'll go down and see whats going on with any that are downstairs or out in the garden - they are a terrible distraction really LOL!

Re: Fao of multi cat owners

I have 2 cats and my mum had 6 (3 fostered) but when each wants attention, they come for it. Both mine are house cats and are perfectly happy.

I would worry about it.
