just picked up our first cat
We have just picked up our first kitten and just thought id share a picture of her, shes 9 weeks old and mum was a bengal type dad poss persian/long haired. will post some better pics once shes settled in more.

Thanks we think shes lovely although she seems to think my legs are for climbing up to get to the keyboard so think i need to invest in some thick jeans..lol
shes called Missy although the kids keep changing it every 5 minutes but think we are sticking with Missy. yes we havent owned a cat, ive always had dogs and bred dogs so we are new to the cat thing, so im sure there will be questions comeing up as we get used to her.she settled in really well although she did hide for the first hour or so, we are just trying to learn my youngest daughter how to be around her as shes used to dogs and doesnt understand the claw things on the cat...lol Just a few questions for now, here goes... what age is best to get her spayed? some people seem to say really early but others seem to wait a little longer? when can she go out? we live on a cul de sac with no through traffic so want to allow her to go outside but are just wondering at what age they should be as i would be so worried about her not coming back(i know this wont be yet as shes still so young but for the future) i must admit we were amazed that she could use the litter tray and knew to use it, with us only ever having dogs it just made me wonder how they just know to go to it(that make me sound silly..lol) i only wish puppys were as easily trained..lol

Hi I would wait till she is about 6 months to get spayed and as far as letting her out I would wait for her jabs to be done and even then I would probably wait until she is a little bigger so she can fend for herself. The first few times she goes out I would supervise her.
