boy or girl

My two boys were so very loving, would cuddle in our arms, proper lap cats, the girls I have had are not so loving (unless they want it) one I got from 1 year old so put it down to that, she comes in gets fed, sleeps, goes out.

The one I got at 6 weeks old, follows me around like a puppy, always wants to be nearby, but never wants cuddles.

Is this the norm for everyone?

The reason im asking is my cat has had kittens, and we are keeping one, but I really want a cuddly loving cat, am I best to get a boy?

Ive had male and female kittens/cats and both were very loving. I guess it depends on the cat. Ive heard it said that boys can be more affectionate.

Re: boy or girl

I have an all female cat household!

out of my 3 1 is a bit more aloof than the others. But the other two have to be physically peeled off me! The minute i sit down they are there!

I still have my foster girl rose (aka psycho) - but she has seperate issues. However we have had a breakthrough, she will now sometimes come and sit near me for strokes and she has even given me a purr! WOO HOO!

Re: boy or girl

awww. its so difficult, im so desperate for a cat like my other 2. my eldest girl, is stunning, but i get her as a 1year old with 2 six week old kittens, needless to say she was very very nervous. She knows im her owner and when shes settled at night, lets me stroke her for as long as I want, and she will even sleep with my two daughters, she crys to me for food, and comes to me in morning, and for going out, but she has never ever lay on me or beside me for a stroke.

Then my gorgeous little Amber, we got her at 6 weeks and she is very much "our" cat follows us all over, sits at feet etc etc, but unless she on heat she isnt much for affection.

I need a cuddly cat lol!!

Re: boy or girl

I always found boy cats more cuddly where as the girls seem to like their independance more.
The boy i have now gets on your lap and sucks your clothes and kneads his paws like a kitten.(it really hurts though lol).

Re: boy or girl

I've had boys and girls on both ends of the affection spectrum but probably the cuddliest was our giant orange boy, Pooh. I'd never seen a cat who will track you around the room with his eyes, wait until you sit, and then run to plop down on your lap until we met Pooh.

Cats are like people, (and boxes of chocolate), you never know what you're going to get.
