To be honest ive just always had the cheap non sided or covered ones. Each cat/kitten is different and some are fussy about using enclosed ones. Thankfully ive never had any problems with my cheap ones (£1.99). Granted the one in your link looks nice though.

Re: is this the best litter tray to get?

Personally, I don't like covered litter trays - they're more fiddly to scoop. I've got big cats (Ragdolls & moggies), so I don't actually use a litter tray at all - I use the large rectangular storage boxes with medium high sides. Gives them a lot more room to move 'round in, they're easy to scoop & clean & sides are high enough to stop the litter being kicked out by over enthusiastic diggers!! All comes down to personal choice, & more importantly, what your cat or kitten likes!

I don't like covered boxes because they hold in odor and give the cats limited head and maneuver room.

I use these rubbermaid (tm) tubs (which I think were already suggested by someone else

Some of my cats loved the cover, most didn't. Luckily, if they don't like the cover, it pops right off!

This is a bit like I mentioned, but the ones I get have lower sides & are more rectangular in shape - longer I mean, lol!!

Re: is this the best litter tray to get?

Hi I would probably start off with a smaller one is kitty if around 8 weeks cos he/she might find it a bit of a climb getting in! We did this with my kitty and after a few weeks he decided he liked the hooded tray better. They do a deep value one in Pets@Home for around £2 in Pitsea

Yep, they've got these in PAH by me too - really good value, come in loads of colours & great for a kitten. I got one in the week for one of my cats who's on cage rest at the mo - my normal ones were far too big. The other reason they're good is the inside corners are rounded - much easier to clean

Re: is this the best litter tray to get?

Yes, it would be a challenge for a kitten, would need a lower sided box until the kitten grows bigger.

I chose the higher sides (18 inch sides) because I have one naughty girl who likes to stand up and pee all over the wall and floor.

She doesn't do it all the time. When she does, she starts in a normal squat, but as she pees she allows her bottom to gradually rise up until she is standing and the pee is shooting all over the place.

I now have normal littler boxes and the big tote ones. She only does her naughty standing pees in the tote ones now. If she uses a regular box she stays squatted like a nice modest girl.
