newbie cat owner needs friendly advise

hi guys hope you can help

as some of you know we were gonna pick up the kitten in another week. The seller is going on holiday and asked if we would pick the kitten up sooner. Well we have picked her up today. She is almost 7 weeks old. I know that she is younger than the recommended 8 weekd but she is weaned and litter trained and has been vet checked and has also been wormed with her next dose due in 2 weeks.

What I would like to know is how often should be feeding her. She has had 2 little feeds of kitten food, since coming home at 12pm and I will feed her again when she wakes up (she snoozing atm). Also she doent seem interested in drinking water yet.

so far since coming home, she has had a good sniff around, fed, used her litter tray ok. she then went to sleep for about 2 1/2 hours. When she awoke she had another feed and was in a playful mood and had great fun with the kids.

I think all the playing zonked her out again as she is snoozing but should be waking soon i think. oh she up now................................

she had had another little feed and a wee wee in her litter tray.

Also she seems to prefer a particular spot on the arm of the sette to sleep than the pet bed I have for her. Is this typical? When she a alseep I move her into her bed to get her used to it.

I will be booking her into the vets for her jabs when she is 9 weeks old.

So any tips welcomed.

Yep, I'd concur with the above... both our cats had a cat bed... neither used it (I did tell the other half this, but she knew best )

hi

i agree with everyone else here - quite normal - none of my cats sleep in beds they all use the sofa or high up areas. i also keep dry down all the time - its so much easier then i ve mine a little bit of meat at timetime when i eat. sounds like your little kittys settling in well - post some pics soon.....

Re: newbie cat owner needs friendly advise

I feed royal canin babycat to my kittens from 6 weeks+ then when they are a bit older royal canin kitten 34.when my kittens are 4 weeks to start them on solids i find whiskas kitten pouches good,as they find these very palatble and they mash up well, but i dont feed wet food after they are weaned.

Re: newbie cat owner needs friendly advise

Mine are the same they much prefer the tops of the sofas, our bed, tea towels left on the kitchen worktops or windowsills to their own bed! And the pups prefer the cats bed to their own!

I also leave dry food down all day and I think that's fine unless they are especially greedy and start getting fat!

The majority of cats are lactose intollerant! Kitten milk is lactose free, or as close as you can get.

Whiskers isn't a very good food, try to wean her onto Royal Canin or Orijen if possible.
