Angry Re: vets *grrrrr*

our little boy caught fox mange last year and after 3 months of weekly visits sometimes twice a week for shampoos, anti biotics, more shampoo, stronghold they eventually gave us a mange wash which did the job, the weekly visits were £70 a time and the mange wash £15 !!!!!!!!!! they are just legalised robbers and pray on the fact that people will pay anything to get their little friend better. usually if you have to go to the vet you are just hoping they can make them better and at the time dont even think about the cost and they know this and will drag out any treatment they can!!!!!! it makes me so angry!

Re: vets *grrrrr*

This thread has actually got me thinking about my mums dog... I know this is the cat thread and i apologise for hogging the thread with a Q, but i didnt really want to keep posting new ones, My mums dog a yorkshire terrier 7yrs old, Came down with crystals last year.... My mum took him straight to the vets and they caught them in plenty of time, but the vet put him on a special diet. A year later and he is still on a special diet from the vets that costs my mum an absolute fortune but as she thinks its keeping him better she pays the money no problem. I went with her to the vets and asked if we could put him on a healthy alternative diet, maybe chicken and rice. And the vet didnt answer me? I was wondering if maybe anyone else knew anything about this as i dont like the idea of my mum being fleeced, but if it is doing bobby a favour i shall tell her its the right thing to do. Im sorry again for changing topic, but it had me wondering

Re: vets *grrrrr*

Our vet is really good have used him for years.Alot of the time he will just say to me give them this see how they go and bring them back if they get no better. I also know the nurses up there one i have known for years and when my persians go in for grooming she always does them so i know i will get a good job. He put my persians on hills science plan when they were kittens due to stomach problems and to be honest the younger one will pretty much eat anything used to pinch the moggies biscuits i have put them all on adult science plan now. Have only stuck with this because roony will eat nothing else other than chicken science plan is it a bad food is there maybe another chicken flavoured food i could try to wean him on to he wont eat anything not even if offered a piece of chicken, cat meat or anything really awkward and spoilt . After reading a few posts on here have wondered about changing them onto something else.

Re: vets *grrrrr*

I find that record keeping is not a strong point with many vets. Mine tend to insist on putting all kittens notes on the dam's cards unless you expressly tell them that each kitten needs to have its own card since they will all be going to different homes and the new owners will NEED PROOF of their kitten having been vaccinated.

Also, my two year old young queen had somehow managed to be noted on her mother's notes - she really does need to have her own notes because the stud owner will require to see that she has had her vaccinations up to date before being allowed in to see the boy.
