Worried about whether or not I should trim kittens claws

I have an 8 week old kitten, well he is nearly 9 weeks now. I wasnt planning on trimming his claws just yet as I dont want to hurt him, they are so tiny. But he is getting them snagged on bedding etc and I am worried he will get himself hurt or uncomfortable. Is it too early to give him a very tiny trim?

Why would it be early?

Go for it! Wait until he is sleepy & press his paws to cut his claws.

I think its quite normal for their claws to snag on everything at least until they learn how to use a scratch post. I would probably leave him at that age to be honest.

I've been told that they don't need cutting at all and that a cat should wear them down naturally - is that not right?

Not all cats are the same.

My kitten's breeder clipped his claws every fortnight. No real harm in doing so. Saves my skin too.

Even if you don't actually trim the claws yet, I would definitely start getting your kitten used to having his paws handled, as if you were going to clip the claws, so that its never a problem later on. But it would be fine to trim them now anyway.
