What's in a name???

So, what do you call yours???

I have:
- Bonnie (previously one half of Bonnie & Clyde) who has a ginger leg, and gets called, Gringey, and then dingey, and then dingle !!!!

- Poppy, called Popsickle, sickle, sickle cell and so on ....

My poor cats must wonder what their actual names are now, and they often look at me like I am mad when I call them by their 'proper' name !!!

Thought it would be good to see what people call their cats - Any nicknames ???

Re: What's in a name???

Firstly I have Olle (my semi-feral rescue) he was named after my partner who rescued him, her name is Colleen and so I removed letters either side and came up with Olle.

Second one was Lola. We adopted her along with her brother and my daughter named them Charlie and Lola after the brother sister duo in a cartoon she loves!

Sadly Charlie passed away aged just 2 years old and so we were left with Lola.

Our third one was Casper (found stuck in a tree aged just 6 weeks old ). He was named after a cat that my partner knew as a child because he looked so much like him.

Our forth addition was Nala (my Birman ) named after the lioness from the Lion King as she growled an awful lot when she first arrived.
Although she has now settled she still likes a little growl now and then.

Mia is our latest additon (Also Birman) and was named after a vampire from the Twilight series Amelia which we obviously shortened to Mia.

Re: What's in a name???

Well.... I have Cuba, but she's often Cubes, Q, Kewbee, kewbles.

Not sure what this one will end up being called:

I think I knew he will stay the moment he was born 12 days ago. But he keeps wanting to be called "Sailor" which isn't what I'd really have chosen for him, not my normal kind of cat name at all. It's just that his splodgy blue patches with white wisps mingled in reminds me so much of my grandmother's saying: "Enough blue to make a pair of sailor's trousers" - referring to when the sky clouds over on a sunny day with white clouds, and you wonder if the sun will come out again. If there's enough blue to make a sailor's trousers, it will.

Re: What's in a name???

Also to add the biggest mistake we made with naming our cats was having them sound so similar.

If we call Mia then Lola and Nala will also come running.

We also get the two names mixed up and often end up with Lala and Nola, the cats must think we are crazy.

Casper will answer to any name he just comes running when he hears your voice and you call Olle till your blue in the face and he would still not feel it required his precious time.

That is a lovely reason to call him Sailor. And that's cute (like him)

Re: What's in a name???

We have Ivy who was already named when we got her and we liked it so it stayed. She gets called Ives, Ivy-wivy-woo, and tubs (she's put on a little weight!!) all of which she answers too!!

Baxter is our little baby who we named, purely because I liked it!! He gets called Bax, Baxy-waxy-woo and midget and he responds to none!!!

Our old cat was Bob and she got called all sorts of things!! Bobster was our favourite but we used to laugh at all the pedigree names that cats were given so gave her one too - Bobski McDoodle - quite often sung in time to the 'Bodger and Badger' theme tune!!!!!!!!
