Flight Advice Needed
Morning guys,
I was hoping you could offer us some advice. I am relocating to Canada in the summer with my 1 year old Siamese cat. I know how stressful this experience this is going to be for my cat and me but somehow we need to get through it. The options and difficulties i am facing are: To put my cat in storage or keep her in the cabin. Whether or not to use sedatives to relieve her stress. Now having done some research i have found that often cats put in the hold have a terrible time, sometimes getting lost, sometimes the temperatures are horrendious, sometimes they just get treated like a bag and are thrown about. Elsewhere discussing taking a cat in the cabin i was torn apart by many people who are so allergic to cats that they said they could die if someone were to take a cat on board an 8 hour flight with them. Also my cat is not the quietest of cats and would be the equivilent to a screaming baby the whole trip. Finally with the sedatives some people have said they can have unpredictable effects at altitude and not to use them. Please, please can you share your experiences with me and offer any advise on how to deal with this problem. Thanks, Leigh |

Re: Flight Advice Needed
Thanks for the quick reply xxSaffronxx but i'm afraid it doesn't answer any of my questions, that thread is mainly discussing whether or not it's right to take a cat on holiday. Sadly i don't have a option to leave my cat at home since my move is a permenent relocation.
Thanks, Leigh |

Re: Flight Advice Needed
My late moggy was flying a lots of times with me. He always been in cabin - occupied next seet. Althought - that was business class - not many people was in there. I used to feed him small portions before journey - to avoid accidents. But I had plastic bags and spare bedding too just in case. Most cats wont eat during travel anyway. 8 hours - cats could sleep all this time! I also had a plastic can with water which offered from time to time. Re: allergic people - I mean how many and what are chances that there will be any of them? The air circulation on the plains is very good normally. Whole crew loved him, spoiling and feeding ham etc...and captains sometime came to say hello to him; he was well known at Airports too.
