Re: maine coon kitten

I feel really stupid now she seems so lovely though. I have her address and landline, I also paid by cheque so payment is traceable.

I'd be tempted to put a stop on the cheque until you have spoken to her regarding the registration etc ... but thats just me

Re: maine coon kitten

Do you have anything in writing to say that you have bought a registered kitten - it might be on your receipt, normally it would be on a sales agreement or contract which is drawn up by the breeder and signed by both you and breeder.

If you havent then you dont have any proof that she sold the kitten to you as registered. The actual price of an unregistered Maine Coon would be approx 250 pounds so Im not surprised she seemed very nice.

I was thinking the same thing too. Stop the cheque. as it does sound odd to me also, i know a friend of a friend who had a pedigree dog but when it come to the cert it ended up being fake. So she told me if i hand over money to make sure its all legit I think 500 is a lot and if it was breeding they would of charged a bit more so I thought, as i inquired about a maine coon from a local breeder and she charged £450 for her main coons and a lot more for breeding.

The cheque was cleared before I got her, she said if I didn't want her she'd give me the money back but she is very lovely and I really do want her I'm just concerned over her age. Could it have any longterm affects having her at this age? The receipt only contains the amount and my kittens name which is also spelt wrong!

Re: maine coon kitten

The fact that you got her early will not matter to her health at all, its just annoying that you paid full price for her which should of included the vaccs. She is lovely btw

Re: maine coon kitten

Have you spoken to her yet about the GCCF papers? If she is stalling ask her for her prefix name - then double check with the GCCF that she is registered. I did this with my boy as I had to wait for his papers.

No, she'll be fine leaving home at 9 weeks. It's just the GCCF suggests they stay til they're at least 13 weeks. It is for the best but lots of kittens go to new homes at 8 weeks (moggies usually) i had my mogs at 7.5wks and they are just fine

That's a relief then I will try to chase the papers up, how do I contact the GCCF?
