Re: maine coon kitten

im hopefully getting a siberian kitten in a few weeks, they give them their last injection at 12 weeks and then they keep them for another week to make sure every thing is ok and then at 13 weeks I can have the kitten, I'm sure under the GCCF that they should not go any earlier than 13weeks and should have 4?? I think family lines, im not an expert, oh and they give you free insurance and a care plan etc??

Just what I have researched

Re: maine coon kitten

She did say I would be able to breed from her at some point if I wish to. The kitten did come with 4 weeks free insurance and a bag of food and a carton of kitten milk, just thought there'd be more in the bag oh and lots of rubber gloves in the bag.

Re: maine coon kitten

The kitten looks very nice.

However Im a bit concerned about the fact that the kitten is meant to be registered but isn't because of a 'delay in paperwork', hopefully that is all it is and you will receive the pink slip in due course. She might hold onto it though till your kitten has been spayed when she is old enough, but if that is the case then you should have been told of this before the purchase?? and it should be down in writing.

Although you seem happy with the conduct of your breeder so far she is actually not following the GCCF guidelines. The kitten should be FULLY vaccinated before leaving the breeder at a minimum of 13 weeks - 2nd part of vaccine at 12 weeks with another week added to monitor kittens for any possible reactions. Did she explain why she was letting the kitten go early? As someone has already pointed out, she has cut her costs by selling the kitten under age.

She may seem very nice and friendly now and hopefully that will still be the case if you later have a problem with the kitten.

Re: maine coon kitten

sorry to say but i seriously doubt your kitten is registered,or ever will be.to put it blankly youve probably been diddled!! you would have signed the nesssary paperwork there and then,a "hold up" and "i`ll post it on" are two of the biggest B.s lines going, how much did you pay if you thought she was going on the active register if you dont mind me askingalso if the pedigree doesnt have the proper bits filled in and a registration number, its most likely faked.
gorgeous kitt by the way

Re: maine coon kitten

I will contact her and ask about the age as I did pay what I consider the correct amount for a maine coon to have everything correct.

Re: maine coon kitten

Heavens. 500 pounds and nothing much to show for it.

Sorry but you have definitely been fleeced.

You need to challenge her a bit more over the registration points - is she going to be on active - non active?? If she is allowing you to breed from her in the future then hopefully it will be on active otherwise she is also endorsing backyard breeding.

Re: maine coon kitten

yeah totally think you have been had standard non breeding maine coons normally sell for about 350-375 and come with all injections and are not sold until 13 weeks old also the pink slip is rarely given till after the non active kitten has been spayed however if the kit is on the active register then they would give you the paperwork but you would not get the kitten till at least 13 weeks. as for the insurance, it doesnt cost her anything to include that.. i could include it for my moggy cats
