Re: No pedigree

Quite right Fluffypurrs! It isn't hard to type up a pedigree certificate - the breeder knows the dam's and the sire's details, the date of birth, sex and colour of the kittens and the registration details should also be available because it is possible to send the necessary forms off when the kittens are quite young so the registration papers are back in time for when the kittens are looking forward to going to their new homes.

Re: No pedigree

The only possible thing I could think is that the breeder if relatively new, doesnt know how to do them???? s'pose that is a possibility? but its not exactly rocket science and I'm sure we could help him/her out if that is the case (doubtful like)

Re: No pedigree

Its very kind and understanding of you, Saynamore, to consider this possibility. If a novice breeder asked about such a thing, of course, we would advise and assist.

The very first time you had to do this (for "you" read "any breeder"), what did you do? How did you find out about the procedure of registering kittens? I reckon you did a lot of looking and learning, talking to people, reading etc before you had your first litter so when the litter came, you knew what you were doing.

Well I bought a breeder off a friend of mine a year or so ago and she hadnt been breeding long, and when I went to pick the kitten up she hadnt made the ped out but she had another buyer there at the same time so could have been a bit stressed. So I wrote it out for her from her documents and she signed it off. I'm not convinced she actually knew how to do them, but I knew all the details I got were correct.

Just a thought, it might be along those lines or could be something completely different like ....NO PAPERWORK

I was lucky, I had a mentor from day one. I appreciate not everyone has this

I last spoke to the breeder about a month ago she said she would photo copy mom and dads pedigree so i could do my own. Ive not even had that!
Do you think its about time i contacted the gccf about this. I dont really want to get her into trouble but theres only so much asking you can do. Isnt it against there rules not to supply a pedigree at the time of sale?
Did you had a contract/ agreement with this breeder? Does it mention anything about releising pedigree after - say - neutering or any other clauses?

Re: No pedigree

Hiya there was no contract with the kitten, all i had at the time of sale was a vaccination card and the pink slip.
She is also quite a well known breeder, i breed myself so i know how easy it is to print off a pedigree. She is still breeding from the same two cats so i cant understand why she cant do a couple of extra copies for me?
Ive being speaking to another breeder who knows someone else who had a kitten from her and no pedigree either.
Excuse my french but its really pissin me off!!
