My pine wood dining table and chairs has been totally wrecked by Ted and Dusty when they were kittens. They didn't intentionally claw it, it's just from where they jumped up onto the table and chair backs their claws dug in. Pine is a really soft wood so avoid! My children have also helped with the damage with banging things. I will go for hard wood when I replace it.
