Re: cat collars

None of mine go out and so don't wear a collar. I'd be wary of my cat wearing one though, even the safe ones.

Re: cat collars

Waffles is an indoor cat but she still wears a collar and this is mainly for the bell attached so that I know where the little scamp is. Our flat is rather large and she was so small when we got her I was afraid of standing on her (which unfortunately actually happened to someone I know and the poor kitten was crushed to death).
I have the collar that Saikou recommended (a lovely pink glittery one) and it releases really easily.
However, when I first got her it kept flapping over her mouth and I was scared she would suffocate but now she is older it doesn't do that.

Smile Re: cat collars

It probably depends on the type of neighbourhood you live in, too. Personally, I wouldn't let any cat of mine outside if it wasn't wearing a collar, as it would likey get pinched or taken in by some well meaning person, even if it was chipped. Cats all wear collars where I live, so any that don't are seen as strays. My kitty is indoors, so I don't need to put a collar on her, and was actually advised not to by her breeder due to collars marking the fur, but the harness I take her out on has an identity tag attached to it just in case, god forbid, the lead ever snapped!

Both, but when I take her in the streets I always make sure it's somewhere quiet. LOL Even when I just take her in the front garden she makes a bolt for the front gate and out into the Close...she seems to have an obsession with wanting to go in my neighbour's garden...pity for her that I never let her get that far!

Sorry for the edit, but I just wanted to add how adorable your avatar is, WittyKitty; every time I see it, I just think Aahh, how cute! That's one truly gorgeous cat!

Re: cat collars

Only reason I have a collar on my indoor cat Angel, is for the bell, so we know where she is all the time. She's also been microchipped. But after reading these posts on the subject, I will prob remove her collar perm.
