Re: cat collars

My cats have never worn a collar either. They are all indoor/enclosed outside access.

If you want your cat to wear a collar, then as has already been suggested the breakaway ones are probably the safest, although I would check it first to make sure that it does actually come apart. This site Kitty Collars: Safe Cat Collars UK - Cat Safety Collars UK looks quite good, the ones with messages on look quite useful. The only thing with microchipping is its not visible. I do wonder how many people take in what they think is a stray but never bother to find out for sure by taking it to the vet to be scanned for a chip.

Re: cat collars

Jazz wears a collar, not by her choice probably i thought of microchiping her, but how many people would go to vet and check if a stray cat belongs to somebody... i rather be on safe side, and it doesn't seem to disturb her as it's not tight. her collar has elastic, so if she get stuck she will be able to escape i think.

Re: cat collars

Unfortunately Bubbles i agree about the vets checking for micro chips-though i do know of someone who's cat got catnapped to order and the owner put up a large reward for his safe return-the cat was took to the other end of the country and sold to an unsuspecting couple who were so delighted at having the cat didn't ask question,a neighbor of the rightful owner was about to double the reward when the police had a call from a vet at the other place and so on this occasion it proved it's worth-so think it depends on the vet and where you live-but out of the 2, i'd go with chip
