Question Kittening Queries!

Surely by now my little stray must be getting close to popping out these babes of hers. She is eating like a horse and has been wandering around a lot today.

Just wonder what to do if she has the kittens in a silly place, she has been looking at some really daft places (don't think the shower would be good) some of which would be way too small. Can you move her and the babies to somewhere more suitable? Also how often should you change the bedding as I don't want to annoy her?

Thanks

Re: Kittening Queries!

Find a suitable place such as the bottom of a cupboard or somewhere similar, make a nest-big cardboard box with some old but clean blankets and as long as she feels her and kitts will be safe, she should stay theirAt first i would change blankets once a day on a daily basis, but as kitts get a little older and soil then more often-as and when

Re: Kittening Queries!

Hi

Siamese Kelly's advice is sound. When my girls are due to kitten I use disposable nappy changing mats (Pampers) on the bottom of the kittening pen as they are clean, stop fluids seeping through and easily disposable. Once the queen has had her kittens I remove soiled mat and pop in some vet bed and change once a day.

Re: Kittening Queries!

Thanks for your advice never thought of the changing mats! She seems to like the cupboard at the top of the stairs and has given the two cats that sleep up there a real smack to make sure they know its hers now!

4 cats now in the kitchen and she has the rest of the house. Oh well suppose pregnant gals are entitled to be needy!!

Re: Kittening Queries!

I take the bottom drawer out of my bedside cabinet and pop a blanket in there. They tend to like having them there, plus I can keep an eye on what's happening even during the night
