Re: nasty people
Well you can put it down to their lack of intelligence, and stand proud knowing you're doing a great job.

Re: nasty people
It sounds as if the op has been tarred with the same brush as those who do take in animals for free under the guise of rescuing them but who are really running a business in rehoming them for a profit and are basically nothing more than dealers.
In this day and age with a lot more unscrupulous people about you do have to be careful with whom your cat may end up with. There seems to be a growing number of people who are offering this kind of service these days but unfortunately not all of them will be dedicated to the welfare of the animals that they claim to have 'rescued' and so giving the genuine rescuers a bad name. I spotted an ad not long ago where the poster was advertising for unwanted pregnant pedigree cats - no guesses as to why this person thinks a pregnant pedigree should need rescuing above all others??? It certainly would restore my faith in mankind if I were to spot a similar advert offering to take in the ones that really do have a rehoming problem, such as an older cat or one that requires long term medical treatment. My advice to anyone with a cat to rehome would be to check out any rescue service thoroughly before handing a cat over, a genuine rescuer would always put the future welfare of their cats and kittens first by speying/neutering/vaccinating prior to rehoming and also vetting all prospective new homes. They shouldn't be calling themselves a rescue service if none of the above applies.
