Re: pregnant cat need info?

Just keep an eye on her. If she will start straining - but without any results for at least 20-30 minutes....that might be a good idea to take her to the Vets. Do they have an emergency at hight?
But considering that it is Friday - cats normally "waiting" till weekend ..........

Re: pregnant cat need info?

Hi, Well this is the 2nd time my female cat is pregnant. The first time didn't go well, she gave birth to 2 kittens and 1 whom came out stillborn... 3 days later the 2 kittens passed away. I have no clue what went wrong...The one morning my boyfriend woke me up and saw the first kitten underneath the mother dead. and then later on in the day the 2nd kitten seemed very weak and had on and off breathing, then i held it and it died in my hand... I have no clue what went wrong, someone told me the mother cat could have had spoiled milk but I read that if she did have spoiled milk the babies would not drink it and that it would smell really bad.. but all 3 days the kittens lived me and my boyfriend could hear them sucking on her teats. Maybe someone could help me with this???? I would love to bring my cat to the vets but it would cost me a fortune to get her an X-Ray..... and I can't really afford this, especially with having already 3 cats to take care of.
Now she is due any time now, she looks about ready to pop them out, I know the kittens are alive, when I put my hand on her belly I can feel them moving and kicking, and even when she is up on the window ledge, we can see the kittens kicking. But now I am terrified that this will happen again like her first litter she had.
Can anyone fill me in on some information I should know, that would be great!

Thanks!

Re: pregnant cat need info?

There are things that can cause loss of the whole litter in the early days. One is infection and another is incompatible blood type. Incompatible blood type would normally only affect part of the litter but with three kittens you could easily have all of them affected. There's not really a lot you can do about either, just hope it doesn't happen again. I know it's heartbreaking.

Re: pregnant cat need info?

also mum can accidently smother them, maybe not get her milk in/have enough.babies may have been born with unseen defect and faded, more chances than not all will be well
