Re: Do your cats wear collars

Damien wears one when he's outside sometimes it depends on how he's feeling that day. He's chipped and only goes outside with us on a harness so we didn't see the point in forcing him to wear it.

Re: Do your cats wear collars

all 3 of my cats usualy wear a quick snap off collar, until recently midnight didnt have a problem with his, but in the last couple of weeks he has lost 3 of them lol but marmalade has never lost his yet, they have a bell and a tag expecially for marmalade as he is on medication and has the vets number on his tag too,

the bell makes it easier to locate the new kitten as he is so tiny, dont wanna accidentaly stand on him

Re: Do your cats wear collars

My cat wears a collar and a bell in the spring/early summer because there are some fairly rare birds up here on the farm and I feel mortified when she brings the chicks back! Otherwise, I don't bother usually. She is used to wearing a collar from an early age and doesn't seem to mind wearing it (I always give her a fuss when I've put it on her so she associates it with pleasure), though she managed to get rid of one I got with the snap off safety feature.

Re: Do your cats wear collars

Herbert had a beautiful leather collar he kept for 1 1/2 years and then lost it a few weeks ago! Since then I've bought 2 more cheap ones and he's lost them too!!! I got a RSPCA one from my friend and so far that seems to have lasted cos its very light but the bell is LOUD which is good cos he's such a killer!!! I like him to wear one as we have alot of feral cats as I live in a very rural area and I want him to be seen as having a home just in case.

No.

Would ruin her coat.... She's microchipped, however.

Re: Do your cats wear collars

(First post - hi folks!)

Five cats, no collars.

We've tried collars with bells to cut the number of 'gifts' brought home but it doesn't seem to make much difference ... a determined huntress finds ways to move without making the bell tinkle. When moving house we put collars with name and phone number tags on the cats for a few weeks after they've first been let outside, just in case (they are all chipped'n'snipped).

When we first moved semi-rural we planned to keep collars with tags on all the cats permanently ... but it ended up costing us a fortune. Phili managed to lose three sets of collar/tags in one week when Howie lost two and Musky lost his once. Lucky for us Twigs and Flori seemed to like their collars.

Anyone's cats love to wear collars? The collars we used would fray after a while so we'd take them off to give them a trim. Flori would nearly always then jump onto my lap and stretch her neck out as if making it easier for me to put her collar back on. Very cute

Re: Do your cats wear collars

I know it's not nice for cats to kill birds and mice etc, mine don't as they are indoor and enclosure only, but the cats outside that I feed do hunt, howver it's dangerous what with all the trees and snagging bushes and bastards who would use the collars in a bad way. I'd rather keep them well fed and indoors at dawn and dusk (when they kill most birds) as those bells sound much much louder to a cat and can you imagine having a dingly bell on you every time you moved!!! (only much much louder! )
It would drive me insane

Re: Do your cats wear collars

My cat refuses to wear one, i managed to get it on one time but he started going about on his belly.
Very scared of the bell making a noise.
