Tiggers daily routine

I sent an update e-mail to Tigger's former owner today and found myself including a run-down of his new daily routine.

I thought it would be great fun to hear about your cat's daily routines and habits.

Here's mine (or rather Tigger's )

5am - time to wake up the soppiest human (mum!) by any means possible. Walking on her chest and stomach with my heavyweight paws usually gets a fast result and ensures that breakfast is served promptly. Then it's time for my first round of the neighbourhood.

8.30am - time for the other human to leave for work. Great opportunity to 'con' a second breakfast out of him by being particularly loving and hungry looking (works almost every time!!!)

9am - back to bed for a well deserved snooze while mum stumbles around the house mumbling something about 5am, 4hrs sleep and it being alright for me and she wishes she could go back to bed. Not sure what she means.........

3pm - getting a bit peckish now so head downstairs to find out what's on the menu for my afternoon snack. If the weather is nice, sit in the garden for a bit (don't forget to roll around in a big dusty patch, preferably with some ants in it as well. The humans seem to particularly appreciate these on their duvet cover as they squeal with excitement every time. If weather is still agreeable after that,
perform second round of inspection around the neighbourhood.

7.30-8pm - return home at precise point that the female human is dishing up dinner. It never fails to amuse me to see her twirling around trying to keep the human dinner hot and
get a tasty morsel into my bowl at the same time he he he.

8.10pm - sit at front door and produce most heart wrenching meaow until female human gets up from the dinner table and opens the door for me (even though the backdoor is open and ready for me to use)

9.pm - return home again, take up position on big comfy cushion on female humans lap and proceed to demolish as many catnip treats as I can lay my paws on. Then snuggle up and sleep for at least an hour.

10pm - time for my third round around the neighbourhood (naturally I don't go anywhere until I've had a substantial snack) - after all, you never know what interesting things I might come across outside and what time I will deign to return home.

1am - use bedroom window 'catflap' and settle down on the bed. If humans are already asleep, squeak a lot until one of them wakes up and congratulates me on being a clever boy for finding the window and coming home. Proceed to snuggle up in the most awkward spot possible (well, I like to make sure the humans don't get too hot by letting them have too much of the duvet!) Squeak if humans dare to move around too much.

5am - wake up soppiest human to demand cuddles, fuss, breakfast and the backdoor opened so that I can start a new day. The constant moaning of my chief feeder and letter outer about her being 'knackered' (whatever that is????) do get to me sometimes and so I let her have a lie-in til 8am instead of 5 at weekends. Pretty generous of me, I think you'll agree!!

Annoy slave seems to be your gang's favourite activity going by that report

They sound great fun though!

Re: Tiggers daily routine

LOL thought that was very funny.

A day in the life of Lucky is easy:

Get woken up at 7am by brother meowing for noms. Can't be bothered to get out of bed though - 'specially if its the hoomans bed. Get moved as the female hooman can't get up cos i'm sleeping between her & the edge of the bed (making sure she's got as little space as possible of course).

Have a little food & then play hide 'n' seek cos she wants to put that stuff on my ears AGAIN! - surely once is enough (NB that stuff being suncream). Go outside in the sun & sleep. If i'm feeling good i'll bring in a nice mouse or even a bird. Me & my bro will clean up most of the bird (leaving some feathers of course so they know we've eaten) but will leave the mouse to play with later. If its a nice day will go back outside, under a tree, & sleep - if not its my bed.

Hoomans get back about 7.30pm and wake me up. They make us wait for food cos its still light. Have the rest of breakfast to eat as well as dinner. Don't feel like eating it all in one go cos its more fun making the hooman's get up everytime i want to eat & get my food for me. Otherwise the evening is spent sleeping on whichever hooman doesn't have a strange thing on their lap before going up to bed.

For Patch i need to start at bed time.
Go to bed with the Hooman's. Walk up between them & flop down on the male hooman for cuddles. Then go over to the female for more. WHen the light goes out I go & decide who's feet to sleep on or sleep between them....
2am - one hooman gets up FOR FOOD!!!!! so must follow, hang on thats not the kitchen - he didn't even go downstairs. Oh well must mean its cuddles time.....
3am - am watching the female hooman just in case she needs me for a cuddle - yup she sent the signal by turning onto her back. So all i need to do now is walk up her body & stick my nose into her face and say WAKE UP I'M HERE CUDDLE ME. Oh no response.. back to being on guard again.
4am - yup she definately signalled again - better walk around the bed a few times just in case & will check on the male hooman as well...nope still no response.
5am - ok she means it this time - her hand is free from the duvet. If i just angle my head right i can... yes! a head stroke, knew she wanted a cuddle. Better do it a few more times & then sleep up next to her.
6am - hungry want noms. will start to mew quietly just to make sure they know.
7am - machine makes a funny noise so better meow loudly as well, in her face (& whilst standing on her chest/boobs) just to make sure. But time for proper cuddles first.
Food time yay! Then time to go out - need to make the most of it as i'm not allowed out after 8pm.
In the evening i'm on constant alert cos if my sister doesn't finish her food & the hoomans don't hide it I'm right in there.

Then its back to sentry duty again.

Sorry, just realised its an essay but thats what happens with two cats with different personalities.

Re: Tiggers daily routine

Ha ha ha - Jo, the night time antics of your two sound exactly like that simon's cat 'cat man do' comic/video thingy

I'm sure you've seen it but here's the link again:

YouTube - Simon's Cat 'Cat Man Do'

Really enjoyed reading that list of your two's antics!!

Re: Tiggers daily routine

I loved reading about Tigs day what a life he leads

Waffles day...

6am - start the meowing process in the hope that somebody will hear my pitiful cries
7am - the female human finally gets up and twirls around the kitchen preparing breakfast. I bite her feet and legs whilst she does this. She doesn't like it and lazily swats me away but I soon get back into her good books by purring and rubbing up her legs.. this usually earns me a scratch behind the ears or the chin (my favourite)
7:20am - male human gets up.. I role over and he scratches my belly. I then lay on the floor staring at them whilst they eat their breakfast.
7:30am - the female human FINALLY gets up, washes out my bowl, fills up my water and we make the slow walk to the food cupboard together. As soon as she rattles the kibble box I start to meow loudly... this gets me my breakfast quickly.
8am - male human goes to work and female human puts on music and starts to get dressed whilst I fall asleep on the bed or windowsill
8:30-9:30am - female human plays with me until I am vey tired out. My favourite is chasing a piece of string or cardboard underneath the door
9:30am-12- this is my nap time. The human uses the box in the corner so I nap on the sofa but I follow her from room to room if she moves at all and I growl at the postman everyday... I might be tubby looking but I can defend my territory you know!
12-1pm - the human gets up.. she wakes me by calling my name! I meow a lot to let her know that I am not happy but I get up and saunter into the kitchen where the human normally gives me a belly scratch and a treat.
If the weather is nice the human gets some food for herself and then takes me out on my harness. There is a big black cat that stares into the garden but most of the time I just chase flies, eat grass and lay in the sun.
1-4:30pm - I have another big nap after all of that playing in the garden! The the human wakes me up again (similar manner to before and same response). The human is on the box in the computer at this time... ignoring me!
4:30-5:30pm - if the weather is nice the human takes me into the garden again... if not she plays with me. I like chasing my red ball through the tunnel.
5:30pm - the human starts to make dinner.
6:30pm - the male human comes home and plays with me.
7pm - the male human feeds me
7:30-11pm - I sleep in various places around the house. I like sleeping on the back of the sofa and eating the human's hair but they don't really like that for some reason....!
11:30pm - after the male human has wound me up they fill up my water bowl again and then leave me in the kitchen where I sleep!

Re: Tiggers daily routine

Would be interested to know what my two get up to whilst I am at work from 7.00 until 16.00.
Sleep on their bloody 5 foot 7 cat scratching post/hammock/our bed/couch etc... I imagine

Re: Tiggers daily routine

4am - Cold in here so under the duvet I go, pushing mum out the way, hoomans don't need duvets!
4:30 am - snuggle down for some sleep
5am - Time for the 'how many times can daddy throw me on the floor before I give up and pester mum instead' game
5:10-5:30am - Depending on how long 'the game' lasts. Walk all over mum in a subtle attempt to wake her up for cuddle, this doesn't work so i'll pat her face and lick her nose instead
5:45am - Finally! She gives in and I get cuddles
6am - Strange voices start coming from the white box on the side, daddy punches it and they stop. Mummy stumbles out of bed and down the stairs. I make it quite clear that I DON'T want to eat tuna again for breakfast but get given it anyway.
6:30am - Keeping out of the hoomans way, time to check out if the cats next door have been let out yet from the safety of my windowsill. Perhaps a little nap, it's been a long night keeping the hoomans awake after all.
7:30am - The hoomans leave the house (where do they go all day????) I make my best 'i'm bored' faces and they throw some toys at me. I then get the place to myself to sleep all day.
4pm - Mummy comes home, she's busy opening mail/putting the kettle on but I want cuddles and I want them now! then it's out for a bit to stretch the sleep off.
6pm - Dinner time, pate yum!
8pm - Daddy comes home, I hear his car and run inside, time to pretend mummy didn't feed me (most days it works!) then it's out again to socialise.
10pm - Mummy calls me in, I get treats for being good.
11pm - All the lights go off, time to plot new ways to keep the hoomans awake!

Whoops that was a bit long, such a hard life being a cat!
