I want the good stuff!! Cat Food!

Well Mikah used to eat "Nutro Max Cat" cat food.. It was great, but I needed to a lot of food while I was fostering so I bought the cheap stuff... Friskies!

Now that it's just my Mikah again I'm not afraid to spend an extra couple bucks to get her the good stuff! Since I put Mikah on Friskies she has began shedding so much! She never shed before! But before I switch her back to Max Cat I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Rachael

Also! I'm talking about dry food, not wet! She's picky with wet food, but not with dry food! :P

Nutro was subject to a pet food recall a couple of weeks ago. It's not been the same since Mars took over the company. You could try Timberwolf Organics or Orijen they should be available in Florida

Re: I want the good stuff!! Cat Food!

I believe that the Nutro food has been recalled. It has some ingredients in it that are too high in one thing and too low in another. So I wouldn't use that again. I personally use the Fancy Feast dry food and also the cheap stuff. Purina is a good one and they seem to do all right on the Meow Mix. Good luck

Oh I didn't know it was recalled.. I'm sure they'll fix the problem soon though.. but I'll stay off of that for a while :P

I'm not fond of Orijen because I saw that video of that cat that was paralyzed.. I know that could have been from somthing else, but I don't want to risk it

How is Fancy Feast with shedding? I know they advertise it with that beautiful long haired cat (chinchilla persian?).. And I love the idea of spoiling my baby girl

Is it pricey? I don't know what I'm supposed to look for in a food.. I know certain dyes can be no good.. But I don't know which.. I'll probably swing by the pet store today

There are no problems with Orijen in th US. This was only in Australia due to the government irradiating imported pet foods.

I think I'm going to get Fancy Feast.. But I'd really like to know if anyone here uses it and if it's good with shedding and if they like the food... Well if they like how their cat likes the food..

Re: I want the good stuff!! Cat Food!

Well I ended up getting Nutro Max cat again!

I was sooo close to buying "Purely".. But Nutro had a special members only sale that was just over 6 dollars! Usually that bag is 14 dollars!

I'm not afraid of the recall because the store wouldn't sell me the bag if there was a problem with it..

Also they didn't have fancy feast dry food

Re: I want the good stuff!! Cat Food!

I think Fancy Feast is OK with the shedding. I haven't noticed any problems with my cats and I have two long haired cats. It is a little more expensive than most but I have found that the cheap food just doesn't do well with the animals.
That is too bad they didn't have the fancy feast. How about Purina??? Did they have any of that kind of food. It is good too.
That Nutro you are feeding is bad for the cats. I will see if I can can find the write up about it and post it on here.

Re: I want the good stuff!! Cat Food!

Yeah I read the back of the Nutro bag and wasn't pleased. Someone at the shelter recommended the cat food the our clinic sells. I'm going to look into that.. But I had a rough day when I went to the clinic today and never got a chance to ask about the food.. It was the last thing on my mind..
