Which One Would you Choose?
This is hypothetical question.
If you were looking for a cat and you were going to be breeding from this cat (when it reaches age etc etc). All 3 cats are of very good pedigree. Would you choose the colour you like best, or one whose colour is very nice but not your favourite or the one whose colour is very nice, not your favourite she is very cheap! I know money should not come into these things but when you are talking a difference of £200 it does become a small issue. I could give the colours if this helped. Although I am not sure if anyone can help. ![]() |

Re: Which One Would you Choose?
TBH - why is one cat £200 cheaper? - shouts of a scam steer well clear.
I have my kitten booked as you know - I have a fantastic relationship with the breeder (has agreed to be my mentor now), I love her cats (love the lines they are from), love the fact that all of her cats do well at shows, I trust her implicitly not to sell me a dud, I have decided which colour(s) will give me the colours I am looking for to forward my lines (red or tortie - pref red), I know whether I want them to 'carry' other colours or not (preferrably yes but as I am looking for kits from either one (doesn't carry) or her daughter (carries both) then I have that choice to make later.) Personally I am holding out for the cat from the lines I like AND for the colour I want. It is all too easy to fall for the cuteness of a kitten and it's potential and forget all that you are aiming for. I've nearly been caught out twice. Luckily then my head has ruled my heart. I was caought out with Minnii, if I did it again I would hold out for non-tabby, but she was offered and depsite the fact that another turned her down (no gauntlets) I took her, I should really have waited for a better quality example of the breed, but I was bowled over by her and the fact I didn't have to wait. So advice is choose your lines, get the gentics you want, get good quality and breed example and then go for the colour you want. Does that help?

You are right £200 is a big difference but maybe the most expensive one isn't the best one, I think you really need to get the opinion of someone who specialises in that breed really. Personality and temperament is a huge consideration. A happy outgoing kitten is very important as she is likely to pass her temperament down to her babies. I hope whatever you choose makes you really happy. I always get a "tingle" when I see the right kitten and know instantly it is the right one for me. Izzie

Re: Which One Would you Choose?
Yes, that does help.
It does mean I am going to have a bit of a wait. The ladys cat who has the cat I should be going for just had 4 boys! ![]() The cheaper lady is with GCCF but is a very new to the breeding etc. The other is someone I just found on a website, lives in Scotland and was selling them registered so I thought it would not be too cheeky to ask her if she would sell them active. She would but at £200 more than the cheaper lady but is a blue tortie or a cream mitted, I love torties and now have been looking at the cream mitted and I have major confusion. I need to wait, to sit back and have a wee think about it all. I suppose a little visit to see the torties wouldn't be too bad. The lady I would like to buy one from, whose litter was all boys is very nice. She has been with me from day 1 of Misty-gate and we keep in regular contact. I wouldn't like to offend her by going off somewhere else. I suppose her next litter may have a girl but will it be a breeding quality girl ? yes, it's all becoming very confusing. ![]() Colour choices are Blue mitted, Blue tortie or a cream mitted. I would like a blue colourpoint. Just to add to the confusion. Last edited by Milly22; 16-06-2009 at 12:52 PM.. Reason: Colours |

Re: Which One Would you Choose?
Oh and to add another confusion I keep comparing the blue mitted to Mistys blue mitted and I think hers (Mistys), may, possibly be nicer. Possibly.
I have been to expensive ladies website and hers are stunning, absolutely stunning, it's strange how closey related Ragdolls are. Many of her girls pedigrees are the same as the cheaper one. They cream/blue torties are very stunning though. Last edited by Milly22; 16-06-2009 at 01:03 PM.. Reason: add more text |

Re: Which One Would you Choose?
Firstly, forget Misty's litter - it doesn't mater how good they are, they aren't registered and are no good for you. Having said that, if you are looking with a really analytical eye, then at least you know the type and quality you need to see in another kitten. If the blue mitted isn't up to scratch let it go.
How much are the kittens and who by? - PM me if you want. EDIT: I bet if you visit the torties you'll buy - how old are the kittens?

Re: Which One Would you Choose?
torties are good to get, they hold more colours
Id look at what I wanted first off all, the colour, the breeder, new breeders can go in a bit 'cheaper' to simply get there name 'out there' some people dont charge more for breeding cats, its same as pet price so a few reasons why it miuht be a diff price. how far are you willing to drive I know of a lady in Essex with some kits! ![]()
