How much are the kittens and who by? - PM me if you want.

EDIT: I bet if you visit the torties you'll buy - how old are the kittens?
I am thinking I should not visit, as yes I am sure to buy her, she is 2 week, so I do lots of time to save!! It is slightly worrying that they were advertised at £350 then I mentioned "Active" and £300 is added on. £200 would have been better. An easier figure to hit my DH with.

Id look at what I wanted first off all, the colour, the breeder, new breeders can go in a bit 'cheaper' to simply get there name 'out there'

some people dont charge more for breeding cats, its same as pet price so a few reasons why it miuht be a diff price.

how far are you willing to drive I know of a lady in Essex with some kits!
If it's cheaper than the price I have been offered for her I would take it in a minute, no doubt!

I do love the torties, so cute, so colourful, so lovely. mitted are nice too though. I have 2 here. Hmmmm decision decision. I mean the expensive girl would no doubt pay for herself in the future. Is it cheeky to ask a breeder to know £50/£100 off ?

Yes I think it would be.

Re: Which One Would you Choose?

Do some pedigree research, get a copy of the kittens' pedigrees and look round at available studs and try to get a kitten that is not too closely related to the available studs, that is a very major consideration for your breeding future.

Re: Which One Would you Choose?

You really need to see the kittens and you if you are going for a breeding girl you should be looking for good type - an experienced breeder should be able to help you here. Personally I would be inclined to start off with the simpler traditional colours/patterns but that's me! For a good breeding girl you will be looking in the region of around £500 (give or take).

You need to check out the pedigree/lines too and see if the breeder may know or arrange somewhere for you can take the girl to stud when she is ready.

If you are still keen on the new breeder's cat - ask her if she can get her mentor or a more experienced breeder to look at the kitten in question and assess it if it is practicable.

Do make sure that whatever kitten you get is registered as "Active".

It strange because both cats have the same lines popping up. The cheaper one, is in England, I had hoped that this way I would find it easier to find a stud in Scotland and their lines note to closely related but the one in Scotland has much the same lines.

Hi Karen,

The lady with the cheaper one (blue mitted) has had some help from her Mentor in picking this kitten. We are due to visit in the 2nd week in July when she is around 9/10 weeks.

It is the studding I am a wee bit worried about. As I said before they all seem to have the same grandparents, both cats have very similar lines.

I would love a tortie but £650 I think is just a wee bit too much. I think I may stick with the mitted girl and perhaps this time next year I will be in a better position to buy a Tortie, possibly. I do love the torties but the price is putting me off to be honest, that and the fact that it wasn't advertised as active, yet when I enquired they added an extra £300.

I could save.....

I have been looking at my mitted girl again today and then looking at the pictures of the other mitted girl and they do look very alike.

Whichever one I get I will ENSURE!!! it is on the active list.

I hope your Poppy and kitts are well

Re: Which One Would you Choose?

Hi Valerie

It's good that the new breeder is also getting advice from her mentor. I would ask them if they knew of anyone with a suitable stud who may be prepared to let you in once the girl was old enough. Failing that I would attend a few shows and getting talking to exhibitors and breeders if you can. Is the blue mitted showable?

Poppy and kits, touch wood, are doing fine.

Yes she is show able. She told me from the start that she had someone interested in a cat to show so she would get first pick. The other lady has not been back in touch so (touch wood) I should get the show kitten.

I have been thinking about his over-night and the Tortie is just out of my range at the moment. i think I love the blue mitted, I have 2 and they are very cute and loveable! I think I will most likely go for the one down South.

Although should I win the lottery before now and July I may just buuy both!! That would be the perfect solution.

Oh dear, now I am putting ideas into my own head!
