Re: Some bad news : (

Would your pet insurance cover the cost?

I'm sorry about your little one. I know how worrying it is to have a fur baby that is poorly.

Re: Some bad news : (

One of my siamese boys was diagnosed with a heart murmur at 6 months. He was scanned and there was no evident problem.
He is now three, and since that time, no murmurs have been heard!

I am not impressed that your vet scared you like that! Many kittens have murmurs which often turn out to be nothing, or to resolve themselves. Have a scan done and that will tell you what you are dealing with. If it does turn out to be a problem, there are many treatments available!
Hope all turns out well for you.

Re: Some bad news : (

I am very sorry to hear of poor Sweeps health issues. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that he will get better. Hugs for you both. I have heard as well that it is possible for them to grow out of the heart murmur, though I have never had a cat who has had one. Only a child. My youngest but she did grow out of hers.

Hi. i cant tell you what to do but only advise through my own experience. I was offered to send mikey for scans etc and never took the vet up on the offer.only reason being was obv partly the cost and the fact the vet said that the scan wud really just confirm it but there was not a lot that could be done after that. i was told just to keep an eye on him make sure he's ok when running around wild and for a few weeks i was over paranoid trying to get him to calm down etc etc but after the first few weeks I realised that, no it wasn;t effecting mikey's quality of life and I was lucky that the murmur did go away. My vet reassured me though that this is very common and I'm sorry that your vet has put it to you in a way like it is life threatening. Of course i am speaking from my own experience and don't want to play down your wee one's murmur but hopefully you'll be quite surprised at the outcome. do keep us updated on what you decide to do.
xx
