Re: Some bad news : (

This sounds just like Audrey...she's just been diagnosed with advanced heart disease which was detected by a slight heart murmur - a swishing noise over her heartbeat.

She's been goven around 3 months as its so advanced. At the mo she's on 4 lots of meds and is now refusing one so I dont know what will happen now. I really would get it checked out as cats can die very painfully from symptoms surrounding heart disease such as blood clots.

Our cardiologist told us it is not uncommon with outdoor cats with murmurs that they go off somewhere and dont come home because they have suffered a blood clot which paralyses their back legs.

Its just so awful.

If Sweep is insured then he will be covered to be referred to a cadiologist - mine has claimed directly with Petplan - thank goodness!

Re: Some bad news : (

Unfortunately he's not insured yet hes only 10 weeks old now i was going to insure him when i got him microchipped, i only took him to the vets for his 1st vaccinations and not in a million years did i expect to hear that i've never had a problem with any of my other kittens or cats before so its all new to me so any vet bills and referrals i have i've got to pay for, but he's worth every penny x

I hope he is okay. Hopefully the next visit will be good news. Nothing worse than a pet being unwell.

Re: Some bad news : (

Sweeps update isn't good he went back to the vets today with a runny bottom which he has had now for 2 weeks the vet has treated him with a paste wormer and diarsanyl which hasn't worked so today he had a sample sent to the lab, which cost a fortune, and its just come back... he has a bad case of Toxocara cati,( round worm) which the last treatment didn't cure so he's upped the dosage, apparently hes had them from birth .. he also sounded his heart again and said 3 weeks down the line its no better, he has the highest grade of murmur he cant have his 2nd vaccination now because of the runs, so i've got to start again when its cleared up then he said i need to look into the heart ex ray because he will need an operation my poor Sweep i'm so upset he's only 13 weeks old for gods sake

Re: Some bad news : (

I'm really sorry to hear that Sweep is having such a terrible time. At least you caught these things early though, and he's getting treatment now. And I'm sure you're taking the best care of him that you positively can. I hope things start to look up soon. xx
