Hooded litter trays

Hiya
Does anyones cats have a hooded litter tray? if so, did it take long to train your cat to go into it? and do you feel it was worthwhile getting?

Hope your all well
xx

Re: Hooded litter trays

Ive got a couple, but I took the flaps off, so probably defeats the object of having one. I was just worried incase a kitten got wedged in

The cats seemed to know what to do straight away though

Pumpkin is on a distinguished road
Re: Hooded litter trays

Hey i have 2 of them, when i 1st got Pumpkin i took the flap off purely coz he was to small to push it open but since have put the flap back on and he's fine with it.
Treacle was a lil harder. once again took the flap off at 1st, and she was abit worried bout going in so i would start by leaving the lid off, then put her in it and put the lid on, and she's fine with it now! xx

Re: Hooded litter trays

Hi,

They get used to them very quickly and I do think they are great for two reasons! 1) They can't scrape litter absolutely everywhere and 2) they definitely smell less than open trays! I have started over here with open trays but am going back to hooded trays for practical reasons!

I don't use the little doors, I find them to be a pain, Zooplus do a great jumbo tray which I love, the more room they have the better I think!

Izzie

Re: Hooded litter trays

We use the Gimpet deluxe from zooplus and its great. Ty at 10 weeks was using it with door and lid on (little smart ass lol) and Willow at 14 weeks obviously just copied him. Tried without the filters but they definately make a differance as long as they're changed frequently

Re: Hooded litter trays

Thanks everyone

It was more for keeping the litter stuff inside the tray, i am fed up standing on it lol! plus it being all over the kitchen floor.
Not sure if this is something anyone else has tried, but i use a 'bounce sheet' for underneath the litter tray, i really think it helps with the smell.

Thanks again x

Re: Hooded litter trays

Hiya

We have a hooded one minus the cat flap door, I always found these ones to be better as they didnt seem to like having to push the flap open! lol

I also have one of those mats that slide underneath and it helps a little but obviously stuff still gets out!

Bounce is a good idea
