Re: Hooded litter trays
I got mine at 5 & 6 months with the hooded litter tray with the door. One goes more often when I have the lid off during a clean out and he seems to like being high up during a no2. Couple that with me thinking this is ultra cool, I have just ordered a new tray. They seem fine with the door flap

Re: Hooded litter trays
Hi Elaine,
I have never actually used a hooded one...I would imagine they are great...but I would probably feel strange after 6 years of having a dustpan and brush in my hand for getting the bits he kicks out!!! xx ![]() |

Re: Hooded litter trays
When we first got Tilly we had an open one, just initially to save a couple of pounds as we went to Pets at Home on the way to collecting her at the RSPCA and we were so excited we spent a fortune! They do smell though and we had bits all over the floor as she likes to kick and scrape A LOT, she spends ages in there just making as much mess as she possibly can. We got the hooded one and I was apprehensive to see if she would adapt quickly, I think I might have even posted on here too but no need to worry – she took to it straight away and used it with no problems (no door on our tray and also positioned in the same place as her old open one). Hardly any bits get kicked out now as it’s nice and deep and the hood does help with the smells, although they do still smell! She’s not very lady like! Good luck with yours.

Re: Hooded litter trays
They can keep the smell in for a bit longer too, I find. Especially those lethal poos.
I have other litter trays for the kittens but they too have started using the hooded one. They are great. We picked ours up at a local market for £15.00 unfortunately my son had broke the door off it before we even got home, but yes they are fab! ![]() |

Re: Hooded litter trays
Thanks everyone
i know it is just a place where cat poop & pee lol! but i do think it would be good as i am so worried about seeing the cat litter on the floor and my youngest is crawling, and i have seen her trying to put a bit of the catsan in her mouth so i think i is worth getting

Re: Hooded litter trays
Hey
I thought it would hard to get milly to use a hooded litter tray but it really wasnt I didnt even have to lift the lid up lol I was amazed. But if you find some trouble getting your kitty to go in one heres just an idea to help ![]() Tape the door up and put some dirty litter in the litter tray. Once he starts to regularly use it then you can let the door hang and hopefully he'll get the jist of things lol. They're great if you remember to change the filters. It really cuts the smell down and (if hes anything like milly) you wont get big piles of litter lying on your floor! lol They're great. |

Re: Hooded litter trays
You do still get tracking although less goes flying if you have a rampant digger. I believe Argos do one for about £15.
While in this thread, a cheap option for filters. I currently have the Argos one and no filters fitted correctly and theyre usually about 3 fr £2 which is pretty pricey. Anyway, I bought a sheet of charcoal filter (its the same as goes in extractor fans) off ebay for about £3 delivered and you cut to size. It means the filter is changed v regularly and I can get about 25 out of the sheet |
