Saffron you could have a flap built into a window leading to a conservatory so you can allow them freedom this way but in a safe and controlled environment, many get standard ready made runs and adapt them to suit their cats needs ie -heat pad/lamps-tv/radio/toilets in certain place, etc so have a looksy around or visit local breeders catterys to get ideas and take it from there, give your oh a new hobby-proper man/woman stuff-diy

Clare - There really is no need to jump on me telling me that i cannot afford to breed cats! I wouldnt be doing it if i couldnt afford it!
See my post earlier about it in response to Savannah!!!

Hi Kelly - I actually thought about converting my existing cat flap and building a tunnel from it that goes to the garden into a bigger cat run! Its something to look into for sure

Re: Outdoor cat to become indoor cat??

I want to do something similar actually, cos i have no cat flap but an outdoor space would be good for them on a warm day having such big thick coats

I wouldnt have the cat flap (seal it up) and just let your moggies out as usual in the old-fashioned way by opening the door for them. That way you are in control, the moggies will probably be streetwise anyway whereas pedigrees usually arnt. Dont know how old the mogs are but they may not re-adapt to indoor life anyway but it would it would be brillo if they did.

As for ventilation I have one of them there ceiling fan lights in the lounge which are excellent in summer, or you could get window stoppers that only allow your windows to open so far.

Hope this helps C.x.

ps forgot to add, you can have your garden catproofed, but can be pricey )))))

I think you have a good point there about letting the moggies out the old fashioned way - will keep that in mind - thanks!
I didnt let my little girl out until she was 1 year old - then i went to live with my partner and kept her in because the road was busy (but this was only for 6 months before we bought our new house) and she was quite happy to adapt to indoor living. She sulked for a couple of weeks and then was fine after that

Also - even though i feel i dont need to explain myself i am going to point this out................

I am going to be spending minimum £5k on getting everything set up for breeding before i can even get a sniff of any money coming back in from kitten sales as I have done a cash flow forecast for the next 3 years (being an accountant by trade!) - so i think you need to keep your opinions about me not being able to afford it to yourself
