New Kittens

Hi fellow kitty lovers, I due to get my two new kittys a week from now. Can't wait. I had to say goodbye to my auld boy Sneaky who was 20 last month and have never been without a cat so decided to go for two this time! Its been so long since I have had a kitten that I am slightly worried about getting everything prepared for them. I have all the obvious things ready ie. bed, litter tray, toys, brushes. Is there anything more I can do to make their new home more comfortable? Should I have two litter trays as there are two of them and any advice on feeding would be much appreciated. I also have Archie a west highland terrier who is fab with cats and will be keeping them seperate until the kittys are settled in. Poor Archie will not know whats hit him, lol. All advice more than welcome please. Thanks.

Smile Re: New Kittens

Just add the camera with several ready charged batteries and not forgetting the gazillion hugs cuddles and kisses. oh and start as you mean to go on lol If you are going to be happy for them to let you share your bed with them for the next 20 years!!! then take them to bed the first night. Good luck

Re: New Kittens

I've just got two Siamese Kittens, I would recommend taking them to the Vets when you can, just so they can give them a good going over, both of mine had problems within days of bringing them home, and after a week of treatment they are so much better.

We have 3 litter trays, 2 downstairs and 1 on the landing, you just never know.

For feeding we give them both Purina One Dry food, this really helps them to drink plenty of water, and we also feed them Felix as good as it looks pouches.

Just enjoy them, they are so funny, and like kazijay has mentioned, loads of batteries for your camera.

Oh, and they'll be into everything, like walking over the keyboard when your trying to type,
Good luck with your new kittens.

Re: New Kittens

Thanks folks I am so nervous about getting it all right for them. Its a wee boy and a girl I am getting. The wee boy is a pale pale ginger and the wee girl is a black tortie, both moggies. Its a week tomorrow till i can bring them home and I am wishing the days away till then. I guess it will all happen naturally. I am even stressed at what to name them, ha ha.

Keep their litter trays closeby as sometimes when they are so young they cannot hold on. With every kitten I have had i keep them in a small area for the first while and let them explore more when they used to their surroundings and are capable of running back to use their litter trays.

Another thing you could do is let Archie lie on a blanket and then use this blanket when you collect the kittens, then give it back to Archie, this way they get used to each others scents.

Enjoy them! You will have so much fun.
