Litter training

Hi all im sorry to be a pain but i was wondering if anyone could help.
When i first got Pumpkin we had no problems at all with him and he was fully litter trained.
Treacle is ment to be litter trained but she doesnt seem to be great at it. lol.
At first i thought it may be that she was scared to wander on her own because of Pumpkin being bigger, but now they run around the house together so it cant be that.
Alot of the time she goes in the litter boxes we have for her but she also tends to go on the bathroom floor which is really annoying hehe. I keep putting her straight into her litter box when she's done it, and 1st thing in morning, last thing at night, straight after meals.
Any advice or info will be really appreciated! xxx

Re: Litter training

I'm afraid I don't know. Mine are fine with the litter tray. Maybe experiment with the type of litter or just try newspaper.. Pumpkin is a cute name for a kitten by the way!

Re: Litter training

Hello,
I had a cat that went on the bathroom floor too!! there was 2 litter trays, one upstairs, one down. I experimented with different litters, that did the trick, she now always uses the trays!

Its worth a try?!
Good luck.x

Re: Litter training

hello,
my cat did this when she was a kitten, we tried to encourage her to use the tray, the best thing we found is putting the tray where she was preferring to go. It got to the point where we had a tray in every corner of our lounge! She then got used to using the tray and we began to remove one tray at a time until there was just one left that she used. now she's bigger she goes outside and we don't have a tray anymore, we found it was the only way to save our carpet, it took a few weeks to do, but it was worth it.

hope this helps
x

Re: Litter training

Hiya,

I can not add anything, i have been lucky with Jinxy, he just seemed to master it all the first day he arrived here.

I think what your doing sounds like what i would do, with picking the kitten up and taking her to the litter tray after every accident, and after meals.

Good luck, i hope she manages to use the litter tray better soon xx

Re: Litter training

Thankyou all, your info was really helpful. I've put a litter tray in the place she keeps messing and we've had hardly any accidents now! Yay. She's getting much better so im really happy with her now.
Jinxy i was exactly the same when we 1st got Pumpkin we had no problems what so ever! He mastered it straight away. Luckily Treacle is getting there now hehe.
xx
