She collapsed on Sunday and stopped breathing, we rushed her to the emergency vets where they admitted her straight away and did some x-rays & blood tests.

When we eventually went to pick her up the vet showed us her x-rays and were shocked to see her heart was twice the size it should be and her lungs are filled with fluid

Her heart murmer has gotton worse and this is why she has been 'off' since coming back from the groomers - she was so traumatised and scared there that progressively, over the last few days her heart has stopped working properly and it all came to a head on Sunday.

She has been given medication which is helping, but her breathing is still erratic. If the meds dont work it would mean she would have to have intrusive surgery which she may not survive anyway. If the meds have worked she will be on them permanently and it will mean regular x-rays to check her lungs, but we have been warned that an episode like sunday could happen again

Obviously we are absolutely devastated but i'm determined to do all we can to help her. She's back at the vets on Wednesday with Caroline (who first detected her heart murmer) so we will take it from there.

I wish it had turned out to be depression now........

Just thinking - I know the focus has to be on Audrey's health and recovery at the moment but wld it be worth contacting your local paper for them to run a piece on that grooming place?

Can't begin to express how disgusted I am with what happened to your baby there and wld be good to spread the word to stop other owners potentially going through this heartache? Sorry, just a thought

That's very upsetting, and I'm so sorry.

I followed your links when Audrey had the haircut, so I know she was very down, but I am really sorry to hear about her heart problem.
