The vets verdict on possible phantom pregnancy

So I took Dahlia to the vets yesterday, she was a very good girl.
I mentioned on here that I had noticed she was 'lumpy' around the boobs and felt like she was making milk.
The vet had a feel and said its normal for cats to put on weight and go droopy after being spayed, which I knew but this happened over like 2 days and went right up under her ribcage not just her abdominal area.
The vet seemed a bit mystified.
She said shes going to research how long it takes for female hormones to work their way out of the system, testosterone takes about 15 days but shes not sure about girly ones.
As I thought its very rare for cats to have phantom pregnancys and not possible after being spayed.
She did mention about the possibility of them 'missing' a bit of Dahlias ovary when she was spayed which is rare but could happen, so thanks to those who mentioned that may be the problem.
The vets doing so research and will contact me next week, if its not likley to be hormones in the blood system then she'll have to have a blood test to see if it could be a leftover lady part.

The good news is, its not urgent and shes not in pain, worst case senario she could start coming into heat again. The worst part though is the thought that she might have to go through it again, I was worried enough the first time.

Fingers crossed now.

Oh thats awful, poor Dahlia! I really hope its nothing that needs an op. I can't believe the vets "might have missed a bit" when spaying her, thats shocking that she said that.

Still the most important thing is shes not in pain and fingers crossed for some more good news

I think it can take up to 6 weeks for all hormones to settle, it doesn't happen immediately .
