When should you switch to adult food?

Fluffy is 6.5 months and still has Hi-Life kitten pouches, though I have started giving him some other foods for variety includung Applaws and the Hi-Life tins (chicken & ham, petite pate ones etc). He also eats poached fish or roast chicken occasionally.

Does he need to stay on the Kitten pouches till he's 12 months or so or can he switch over to adult food entirely now?

I don't think it would harm him at all if you never gave him kitten food. I was told to avoid it by my breeder as it is often too rich.

Re: When should you switch to adult food?

Good question, it is something i have wondered about to.
I still have Jinxy on the kitten food this now, as he is still young yet.

I would think the main thing is that he is enjoying his food, weather it is kitten or cat (just my personal thought though, not expert advice or anything lol)

Re: When should you switch to adult food?

I have heard that kitten food is quite fattening but it depends what you buy I guess.

I started weaning Waffles onto adult food at ten months - she LOVES it so I am very pleased indeed and... sorry but I want to say it... her poops are much healthier now that the kitten food is being phased out
