Argh - he doesn't want to come in now!!!

Fluffy has only been going outside for a few days, but tonight he was pestering me to let him out so I gave in. I kept checking on him every few mins and he was staying on the drive or front garden. Then I checked again and he'd gone!!!

I have just wandered down the street in my PJs and coat calling him and panicking. Eventually I walked back up to my house and saw him on a neighbour's drive, talking to another cat!

I shouted him and he ran over but then went under my husband's car and won't come in the house. Problem is I have to leave the door open for him to come back! I hope I can get him back in - I can't leave him out there all night!!!

Re: Argh - he doesn't want to come in now!!!

Dont chase him or shout when you go outside with him, hell just run off.
Find a code that you use to get him in.

all my cats respond to my whistle and they all come to it, Start off giving him treats & saying his name & then use the code, what ever you want to use 'come' 'din dins' 'over here' 'get in now!' lol or his name, or a whistle sound.

Start off going outside with him, call him over bend down dont move, give him a treat for coming over, saying good boy......let him go again do this alot, that way when you call him over & actually want him to come in....you can get him Still give the treat though!

After a while, took my cat 2 days its 2nd nature

Plus first times outside they dont want to come back let him out very early that way hell be back at dinner, or dont feed him before letting him out & hell know when din din is!

Re: Argh - he doesn't want to come in now!!!

I managed to get him in eventually by waving a packet of Hi-Life at him! I had to give him a little bit to keep him happy!

I tried to get him to go out this morning before his breakfast but he wasn't interested in going out without food, then next door's dog started barking and put him off. He's chasing a small plastic bead round the hallway at the mo!

Aww,

My cat is meowing very loudly at the birds outside the window ( he is inside)...he does this every morning. I have a bird feeder right outside, he can't get to it, but he just talks to the birds. Not a very good tactic if he wanted to be undercover I'm thinking!!

Glad u got your cat back!

glad you got your kitty back I agree with Taylorbaby - a code is a really good idea. Waffles is indoors but if she is hiding somewhere I just say 'do you want this?' and I hear a meow and she comes running works everytime.

Aw glad he's home now. Filou always comes when I call him but Marble - I have to wave a pouch of cat food for her!

Glad you got him back in! Good old Hi-Life lol

Your post does strike fear into my heart though as I was trying to call my Tigger in last night with no success (mind you it was his first outing)

I managed to attract three neighbourhood cats though who all came running up to me all excited - sods law
