Mice!

Right, I'll start from the beginning. Last weekend ago my Dad let my cat in and he failed to notice that she had a mouse in her mouth. It was only when it ran across the floor he noticed. So I have spent the majority of the week trying to catch the mouse before my cat killed, which she now. Anyway to the question at hand apart from stopping her going out how I can I stop her catching mice because if they have swallowed mouse poisoning or anything they could make her really ill. Oh and I have a pretty good idea where the mice are coming from (a jungle of a garden a few doors down) if that helps?

Re: Mice!

Sorry but there's no way of stopping a cat chasing and catching a mouse - its in their nature.

We've now had two mice presents brought in to us, last nights being the cleverest catch as they managed to trap in underneath one of their food bowls - how the hell did they manage to do that! OH went to pick the bowl up & found mousey calmly washing its face.

Re: Mice!

Oh what little delights our fury friends are.
I saw my 2 pawing at a mouse in the garden, thankfully they did not bring it in too me.
My mums cat Tibby once brought one home, he had punctured the chest so the mouse was suffering. I remember my mum telling my to drown it so it didn't suffer. Not something i enjoyed doing but was definitely most humane.
It is such a shame they no longer catch them for food, only to play with.
Good luck with your parcel delivery service!

Re: Mice!

Ok, I'll just have to examine her mouth before she comes in to make sure there are no little mice in her mouth. Thanks

Re: Mice!

I've tried collars with bells but she still catches them. I don't know how she does it It seems the older she gets the more mice she brings home

It will be sods law that if they are resident mice the cat can't be bothered till they have breed 10 generations. Not quite the same when they are guests
