Re: Dry food

i knew there was somethin i had to ask oh who works in wh smith.
Sheldon loves tuna so we share a tin when im havin it and i also cooked him some haddock the other nite and he wolfed it down so i think hes more of an ocean cat.

well im gonna stick to wet and see how he gets on. it also means i can spend a little more to get even better food if im not buyin dry and get hime more toys lol ill make sure it states complete cat food and then ill jst give him some treats throughout the day.
i shall keep you updated on how we get on. and id like to no more about syd to no hes gettin on ok with his diet and his cystitis. he sounds like hes not even gonna notice anythins wrong and i bet he milks it all the way lol

lindsk is on a distinguished road
Re: Dry food

good to meet another ocean cat - i love the name Sheldon! it sounds like he is a very well looked after lad as well

Syd does milk it when he comes home from the vets - he tends to mock -bully his sister more, knowing he'll get away with it - and fully expects lots more hugs and cuddles - tart that he is - Cass just shoots him dirty looks for being so obvious.

I have read so many things on this forum about cystitis and the fact that other cats have it and get by on a normal diet - but the vet insists ordinary food, fish included, will upset his mineral balance and so he will have another bout. but part of me thinks we should at least try again - we know the warning signs, but just don't want him to go through any pain.

Re: Dry food

its hard coz you have to make the decisions yourself as he cant tell you anythin.
maybe you cud try again with his fish and see how he is give it a few days then try him again. its abit like humans like if we drink loads get a hangover and then do it all again or i no when i eat indian curry it kills me the next day but its a sacrifice i like to take lol.
i no its not really the same but its similar same principles.

you cud maybe give him the food the vet recomends and then give him his fish as a treat. it cud be that his old diet was jst too much so you cud cut that down mix in the special food and everyones happy.

you no the signs so you can call the shots if anythin happens even if its a minor symptom you can jst stop it till it clears.

Could you be just a tad more patronising please

I have done so much research on cat food it would make your eyes bleed. My advice to you would be to not believe everything you read on the internet

And oh my vet stated that there is little difference in nutritional value as long as you get a good quality complete cat food. But i suppose she is wrong and your right huh.

Are you suggesting that feeding a cat a cheap can of aldi's own wet food is better than JWB dry

I think you need a lie down.,

yes they often have offers in PAH on JWB. I only buy the smaller bags usually, i've only got a small female moggy that costs around 12 pound individually.

the advantage of no preservatives and additives is that it does not contain anything that can make cats become addicted to a certain brand... like whiskers do. They also dont become hyperactive, for example whiskers is full of things which will make them crazy, a bit like feeding a child on sweets and mcdonalds.

Actually health wise YES a cheap can of wet IS better than a completely dry diet such are the deleterious affects on the cats health of the latter.

If your eyes have stopped bleeding try the Your Cat book, it really is an eye opener.

Was that aimed at me ? Why do you think I have a problem with my underwear. I just answered your question as to why they continue to market food that is unhealthy and you reply with an insult. I took your question to be a genuine one, and not a sarcastic jibe - more fool me!

Why ask for peoples opinions? Surely if you genuinely cared about your cats health you would be open to all points of view.
